Job Description

The Fayette County Health Department is seeking a Director of Environmental Health in Vandalia, IL. Candidates must have a Bachelor's degree in relevant sciences, be a Licensed Environmental Health Practitioner in Illinois, and have two years of field experience. Responsibilities include conducting inspections, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with sanitation laws. This is a full-time position offering health benefits and a salary of $26–34 per hour.
Requires a minimum of 30 College Science Credits or a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university, majoring in Environmental, Biological, or Geological Sciences; must be a Licensed Environmental Health Practitioner in the state of Illinois; and requires two years of practical field experience.



Assist with and makes routine inspections in environmental programs; prepares activity reports and records of inspections and investigations
Selects, prepares, and submits samples of food and water for laboratory analysis, and performs simple field tests
Confers with facility owners, operators, contractors and the public in basic sanitation problems and methods required for compliance with pertinent laws
Enforces and explains program rules and requirements with the public
