Sustainable Development Manager

Hire Resolve is seeking a Sustainable Development Manager for mining operations in North West, South Africa. The role involves developing sustainable strategies, ensuring regulatory compliance, managing stakeholder relationships, and conducting environmental assessments. Candidates should have a relevant degree and at least 10 years of experience in sustainable development or environmental management, preferably in mining. The position offers a competitive salary of R1.6m – R1.8m.
Job Title: Sustainable Development Manager – Mining – North West

Location: North West, South Africa

The Sustainable Development Manager will be responsible for ensuring that all mining operations in the North West region are conducted in a sustainable and environmentally responsible manner. This position will be based in North West, South Africa and will report to the Head of Sustainable Development.

Key Responsibilities:

– Develop and implement sustainable development strategies for mining operations in the North West region
– Ensure compliance with all relevant environmental regulations and standards
– Manage relationships with stakeholders, including local communities, government agencies, and environmental organizations
– Conduct regular environmental impact assessments and develop mitigation strategies where necessary
– Identify opportunities for sustainable development initiatives and partnerships within the local community
– Monitor and track key performance indicators related to sustainable development goals
– Provide guidance and support to mining operations on the integration of sustainable practices into their daily activities
– Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment of sustainable development initiatives with overall business objectives
– Prepare and deliver reports on sustainable development initiatives and progress to senior management

Qualifications and Experience:

– Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainable Development, Mining Engineering, or Safety Management
– Minimum of 10 years of experience in sustainable development or environmental management, preferably in the mining industry
– Knowledge of South African environmental regulations and standards
– Experience working with stakeholders, including local communities and government agencies
– Strong communication and interpersonal skills
– Ability to work independently and as part of a team
– Proven track record of implementing sustainable development initiatives and driving positive change within an organization
