Job Description

Apa Mississippi is seeking a Senior Planner in Jackson, MS, to perform advanced planning work, oversee comprehensive plans, conduct studies, and engage with community groups. responsibilitiesto perform advanced level professional planning work in current or advanced planning; to provide technical and functional supervision to lower level professional plannersassume responsibility for a major of aspect of planning such as neighborhood, downtown or general land use; oversee development of comprehensive plans for assigned area of responsibilityconduct and supervise planning studies in the community; gather data for evaluating current and advance planning projectsconduct public meetings with neighborhood groups to develop civilian inputcollect, analyze and present data in written, graphic or oral forms to various boards, commissions and committeesperfrom research, planning and technical analysis for complex planning projects; prepare alternative land use plans for selected areas within the cityconfer with engineers, developers, architects, a variety of agencies, neighborhood and community groups in acquiring infromation and coordinating planning and zoning matters; provide information regarding city development, projects, programs and requirementsassign and review the work of professional and technical plannign staff; assign work activities, projects and programs; review and evaluate work products; provide staff training.provide staff support to a variety of boards, commissions and committees; may serve as secretary to an assigned board or commission; present information on planning projects an realted issues.review developmental proposals and work with developers to reach agreement on acceptable site plans; review various developmental applications for compliance with appropriate regulations and policies; prepare reports of recommendationsexperiencesix years of responsible professional urban or regional planning experiencetraininga master's degree from an accurated college or unversity with major course work in planning, urban affairs, or a related field#j-18808-ljbffr
