Job Description

Southeast Conservation Corps is offering AmeriCorps Individual Placements for young adults aged 18-35 in Georgia. These positions, lasting from 8 to 52 weeks, involve hands-on training in resource management across various public and private sectors. Current openings include roles with the U.S. Forest Service and National Park Service, focusing on biological science, botany, and invasive species management. Participants gain valuable experience contributing to local conservation efforts.
SECC AmeriCorps Individual Placements


SECC connects young adults, ages 18–35, including college students and recent graduates, with resource management professionals across public and private sectors. These individual placements, lasting from eight to fifty-two weeks, take place at sites throughout the Southeast. Each opportunity provides hands-on training, career development, and meaningful contributions to local projects and communities. Featured: Biological Science Technicians | Cherokee National Forest, TN

SECC currently has two AmeriCorps members serving with the U.S. Forest Service’s fisheries team in the Cherokee National Forest. These Biological Science Technicians are gaining hands-on experience in aquatic resource monitoring, stream restoration, and watershed health. From electrofishing and macroinvertebrate surveys to freshwater snorkeling and public education, the interns are contributing to meaningful projects that improve stream connectivity and aquatic habitat across the forest’s North Zone. Their service directly supports the Forest Service’s mission to sustain healthy fish populations and enhance recreational opportunities, all while developing skills for future careers in natural resource management.
