Recycling Attendant

Job Summary
As a Recycling Depot Attendant at the Mission Recycling Depots, you will be an integral part of a team dedicated to safe, efficient, and customer-focused operations. In this role, you will support community recycling services, help maintain site standards, and assist customers in a professional, courteous, and knowledgeable manner.
This position involves working in a noisy environment and in all types of weather conditions, always requiring adaptability and a strong focus on safety.
Please note that this position will be required to work at the Abbotsford Mission Recycling Depot from time to time
Position Description
Work safely and effectively as part of a team, following all company and safety procedures.Inspect incoming recyclable materials to ensure they meet facility specifications, provide essential recycling services, and educate customers and the community on proper recycling practices.Deliver excellent customer service to both residential and commercial customers, including assisting with traffic flow when required.Participate in training to gain the skills needed to perform all role duties.Ensure the depot is maintained in a clean, organized, and safe condition at all times.Support the Site Supervisor in ensuring the Abbotsford and Mission Recycling Depots meet all company and regulatory requirements.Monitor and manage onsite inventories with the Site Supervisor and team to maintain compliance with contractual and regulatory standards.Recommend improvements to enhance efficiency, customer service, and safety.Assist in training new employees on site operations, material specifications, and safety procedures.Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills & Qualifications
A passion for contributing to the green economy and providing essential services to the community.Ability to work primarily outdoors, either in the recycling depot or in and around the facility.Strong commitment to safety in all tasks and aspects of the job.Minimum 2–3 years of experience, preferably in a customer service–oriented environment.Proactive attitude with a willingness to learn.Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.Experience operating small mobile equipment (e.g., forklift) is an asset but not required.Ability and willingness to work shift schedules (day shifts only, four days on/four days off), including some weekends.A friendly personality with a “roll-up-your-sleeves and get it done” attitude.A good sense of humor is considered an asset and highly valued.
