Project Finance Analyst

Piper Maddox is seeking a Project Finance Analyst to support financial and compliance activities for renewable energy assets in Andover, MA. The Opportunity

The Project Finance Associate – Asset Management will support the financial, commercial, and compliance activities related to a portfolio of operating renewable energy assets. This role will work closely with asset management, project finance, accounting, legal, and operations teams to manage reporting obligations with tax equity investors, cash equity partners, lenders, and other stakeholders.

The Associate will assist with financial modeling, cash distribution calculations, PayGo tracking, flip-date monitoring, investor reporting, and partnership compliance activities. This position offers significant exposure to renewable energy project finance structures, tax equity transactions, partnership agreements, and asset-level financial performance.




Key Responsibilities

Investor & Partnership Support

Assist with managing relationships and communications with tax equity investors, cash equity partners, and lenders.Prepare and deliver monthly, quarterly, and annual investor reporting packages, including financial results, cash distributions, operational performance metrics, compliance certifications, and other reporting requirements.Support investor consent requests, amendments, waivers, and other partnership-related approvals.Maintain and organize partnership agreements, financing documents, and investor correspondence.Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure reporting deadlines and contractual obligations are met.Financial Analysis & Compliance

Maintain and update financial models, including cash distribution waterfalls, PayGo calculations, capital account schedules, and flip-date projections.Analyze project financial performance against budgets and forecasts, identifying potential risks and opportunities.Support valuation exercises, buyout analyses, and financial modeling related to tax equity transactions and partnership restructurings.Monitor compliance with financing agreements, partnership agreements, and other contractual obligations.Assist with due diligence efforts for acquisitions, financings, refinancings, and strategic transactions.Portfolio Management & Cross-Functional Collaboration

Partner with Accounting, Operations, Legal, Development, and Commercial teams to support portfolio performance and compliance.Assist in developing and implementing standardized reporting processes, financial controls, and best practices.Prepare presentations, analyses, and reporting materials for senior leadership and external stakeholders.Support special projects related to portfolio optimization, refinancing opportunities, and strategic initiatives.Qualifications

2–5 years of experience in renewable energy, project finance, infrastructure finance, investment banking, asset management, FP&A, or a related field.Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, Engineering, or a related discipline.Exposure to renewable energy project finance structures, tax equity transactions, debt financing, or infrastructure investments preferred.Strong financial modeling experience, including forecasting, valuation, and cash flow analysis.Understanding of partnership structures, project finance concepts, and financial statements.Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively across multiple teams.Experience presenting financial analyses and business recommendations to internal stakeholders.Exposure to HLBV accounting, tax equity structures, or renewable energy asset management is a plus.


Preferred Experience

Experience supporting utility-scale solar, wind, and/or battery energy storage projects.Familiarity with partnership agreements, financing documents, and investor reporting requirements.Experience building or maintaining project finance models and valuation analyses.Understanding of tax equity structures, cash distribution waterfalls, and partnership compliance.Interest in developing a long-term career within renewable energy project finance and asset management.
