Job Description
Green Infrastructure Partners is seeking a Paving Crew Lead Hand in Morrisburg, ON. The role involves leading pre-job planning, enforcing health and safety policies, and ensuring project quality. Responsibilities include crew coordination, safety meetings, and compliance with bid specifications. Candidates should have over 3 years of experience in road construction or asphalt operations, strong leadership skills, and a valid Driver’s License. Pay ranges from $36.00 to $39.00 per hour.
SUMMARY
Reporting into the Director, Morrisburg Region, this role is responsible for leading pre‑job planning, ensuring strict adherence to health and safety policies, and maintaining quality standards across all project activities. It also oversees crew coordination, equipment readiness, safety meetings, and incident investigations to ensure projects are executed safely, efficiently, and in line with bid specifications.
PRIMARY SCOPE OF ROLE
SAFETY, COMPLIANCE & QUALITY
• Promote and enforce company health and safety policies with employees and hired trucks.
• Complete Daily Safety Huddles and weekly Tailgate Safety Meetings.
• Conduct accident investigations and prepare documentation.
• Ensure quality measures are met.
PROJECT & CREW OPERATIONS
• Participate in pre‑job planning.
• Understand and comply with bid estimates and project specifications to direct the crew effectively.
• Coordinate with the Asphalt Supervisor and crew operators to ensure proper equipment use and completion of pre‑op checks/maintenance.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
• 3+ years of experience in road construction, asphalt operations, or a related field with exposure to crew or site leadership.
• Strong knowledge of health & safety regulations and the ability to lead safety meetings, enforce policies, and conduct incident investigations.
• Ability to read and interpret bid estimates and project specifications to effectively guide crews and maintain project standards.
• Solid understanding of heavy equipment operations and maintenance, with the ability to coordinate equipment needs and pre-op checks.
• Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate with supervisors, operators, and hired trucks in a fast‑paced environment.
• Valid Driver’s License (G-class)
WHAT WE OFFER
• Expected Pay: $36.00 - $39.00 an hour will be the expected pay in accordance with the General Lead Hand rate, applicable to all hires through LiUNA/OE collective agreement.
• Salary, benefits, and other additional compensation premiums are in accordance with LiUNA (Labourers' International Union of North America) or OE (Operating Engineers) collective agreement.
