The Board of Wood Green Business Improvement District (BID) is delighted to be recruiting a part-time Marketing and social media Officer to assist in bringing the BID vision to life through an effective and robust marketing, communications and social media strategy to bring about major change to the image of Wood Green BID during its second BID term over the next four years.
With a strong mandate to tackle operational issues in the area and help businesses benefit from significant developments that are planned to put Wood Green on the map and encourage more businesses and customers to the town, we are looking for a determined and creative person to play a key role in its delivery.
Businesses in Wood Green have voted in favour of Wood Green BID to deliver on its vision for a second 5-year term. Wood Green is an exciting and diverse destination with a strong community that has a strong voice to make sure that the benefits on offer are shared across the whole of the town centre. Marketing and Social Media Officer
JOB DESCRIPTION
Wood Green BID is a business-led, not-for-profit organisation dedicated to improving the commercial environment in the commercial centres of Wood Green and Turnpike Lane in North London. We are focused on delivering an ambitious business plan to transform the area, making it a safe and welcoming place for residents, businesses, visitors, and all users.
Leading innovative projects and providing key investment, we aim to make Wood Green and Turnpike Lane cleaner, safer, and more welcoming. Our goal is to raise the area’s profile regionally with diverse and prestigious events and exciting marketing campaigns.
Wood Green BID is seeking a part-time talented Marketing and Social Media Manager to help drive the successful delivery of our business plan and make a sustainable, positive difference to Wood Green Town Centre.
Purpose of Role:
We’re looking for a driven, creative, and self-motivated marketing and social media specialist to join our team to:
• Strategically position and promote Wood Green BID as a proactive Business Improvement District delivering a comprehensive business plan to transform the town centre by improving experiences, standards, and adding value for levy-payers (businesses), residents, workers, and visitors.
• Support the delivery of innovative projects and activities based on business plan objectives that will provide key investment to make the town centre cleaner, safer, and more welcoming, raising its profile with new and diverse events and exciting marketing campaigns.
• Oversee marketing communications with levy-payers, stakeholders, and partners.
• Develop and lead the communication strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
Digital Marketing
• Manage our website (www.woodgreenbid.co.uk), ensuring content is up-to-date and factually correct, and regularly monitor performance and statistics.
• Create regular newsletters for our levy-payers and monitor their analytics.
• Manage the Customer Relationship Management platform, working with the BID Manager to ensure the team uses it effectively.
• Capture all Wood Green BID events on video and by photograph (or commission a third party where required) for use on social media, website, newsletters, reports, and other digital and print publications.
Social Media
• Manage Wood Green BID’s social media accounts by creating a content planner, monitoring and evaluating performance/statistics weekly, creating regular reports, and using insights to inform future content.
• Continuously assess social media trends and recommend new platforms and channels.
Projects and Marketing Materials
• Lead the creation of all marketing collateral by writing and designing in-house (newsletters, fliers, leaflets, press releases, posters) or briefing third-party design agencies when required, drafting copy, liaising with media, and delivering all project and campaign assets to deadline.
• Support the BID Manager with the successful management of event setup, set down, and general administration of events and activities.
• Create a photo library, ensuring it is up-to-date and clearly organised, and that copyright agreements with photographers are adhered to and consent forms are managed accordingly.
• Create a marketing planning calendar and associated delivery plans that dovetail into the overarching communications strategy.
• Liaise with businesses and partners to ensure effective management of promotional material and literature, ensuring brand consistency.
GENERAL
• Assist with communications activities as required for other internal initiatives and external partners.
• Support the BID Manager with any required marketing content for Board reports, working group meetings, and presentations.
• Ensure GDPR compliance for all marketing activities and databases.
• Regularly monitor and research marketing successes of other BIDs to share best practices.
• Support the BID Manager to ensure coordinated campaigns and activities to maximize levy payer benefits and assist with coordination, preparation, and communication.
Note: The above is not an exhaustive list of duties, and you will be expected to perform different tasks as necessitated by the changing landscape of the Business Improvement District.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential Skills and Experience
• Marketing qualification or relevant experience.
• A solid understanding of core marketing principles and a flair for writing engaging copy relevant to the target audience.
• A track record of running campaigns and projects.
• Experience in media relations, including building relationships with media outlets, writing press releases, and responding to enquiries.
• Up-to-date knowledge of social media trends and how they can be used to build Wood Green BID’s profile.
• Comfortable using website content management systems.
• Sound experience in managing a CRM and maximizing its functionality for the benefit of the business.
• Experience using marketing-led software and platforms, such as website content management systems, Mailchimp/Google, Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, social media scheduling software, project planning tools, Google Analytics, and Meta Business Suite.
• Willingness to work flexibly, including some out-of-core-hours work when evening and weekend events are taking place.
Personal Characteristics
• Creative, intuitive, innovative, and resourceful.
• Ability to work unsupervised and use own initiative with confidence, along with sound judgement to refer up when necessary.
• Flexible approach to changing priorities and requirements.
• Analytical and numerate.
• Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills with professionalism and diplomacy to communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
• Excellent prioritisation and time management skills with the ability to manage workload, often with competing priorities and tight deadlines.
• A positive ‘can do’ approach and the ability to be flexible to meet the demands of a changing environment.
Desirable Skills and Experience
• Good knowledge of Wood Green and Turnpike Lane.
• Minimum of three years in a marketing communications role.
• Experience in B2B and B2C marketing (social, website, events, newsletters, content generation), including measuring and reporting on performance and impact.

Job Title: Marketing and Social Media Manager

Reporting to: Wood Green BID Manager
Position: Part Time position, subject to references and completion of probationary period.
Hours of work: Part time up to 24 hours (3 days) per week.
Regular evening and weekend working may also be required.
Salary: An annual salary of £37,500 full time equivalent (Pro Rata)
A contributory pension will be introduced after successful completion of the probationary period.
