Job Description
Loggerhead Marinelife Center is hiring a part-time Marine Science Educator to facilitate educational programs for K-12 students, both on-campus and virtually, as well as off-campus programs. Responsibilities include supporting public events and educational metrics. Candidates should have a bachelor's degree in a relevant field and experience in marine science education. The position starts around June 2, 2025, and ends September 30, 2025, with a possibility of extension.
Job Summary
Loggerhead Marinelife Center (LMC) is seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our
education team. The role involves facilitating daily educational programming for students in grades K-12,
both on-campus and virtually, as well as leading off-campus school programs. This position also includes
facilitating out-of-school time educational programs in partnership with Prime Time Palm Beach County.
Additionally, the role supports public programming and educational events. Bilingual applicants are
encouraged to apply.
This is a part time, term position scheduled to begin on or around June 2, 2025 and end on September
30, 2025. Extension of the scheduled end date may be possible but is not guaranteed. This is a
contract position and early resignation of the position will make the applicant ineligible for rehire at
LMC.
Core Responsibilities
Facilitate daily out-of-school time educational programs in partnership with Prime Time Palm
Beach County and the Children's Services Council of Palm Beach County
Provide support to education staff in compiling metrics and deliverables including data entry for
workbooks in alignment with Prime Time of Palm Beach County contract
Facilitate daily field trip programs grade level K-12.
Facilitate daily campus education programs on and off LMC campus, as well as virtually,
including but not limited to field trips and public programming
Provide support to education staff in program preparation including tracking program inventory
& collection of specimens and other materials
Facilitate after-hours and weekend programming including private event programs and birthday
parties, as needed
Work with Education team to successfully facilitate campus events and related activities
Assist education team with departmental duties, as needed
Represent LMC at community STEM Educator events including, but not limited to: STEM Open
House, Science symposiums and Science Nights
1 Other duties as assigned
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Experience
Possess a minimum of a bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline and two (2) years of
experience working in marine science education
Self-motivated; passionate about ocean health and the importance of scientific communication
Must be extremely comfortable and thrive delivering environmental education programs for
multigenerational groups, as well as the ability to organize small and large groups in dynamic
environments and professional settings
Demonstrated understanding of marine science, current global issues affecting ocean health, as
well as the ability to deliver a systems-thinking approach to program development
Must thrive in a highly-visible, learner-facing environment, including virtual, indoor and outdoor
spaces and communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
Must pass an annual Level 2 background screening through DCF Clearinghouse.

nearly 100 organizations across six continents and 16 countries in ocean conservation. In early 2022,
we opened a new 27,500 square-foot campus that greatly expands our exhibition, education, and
convening space and doubles our medical facilities.

performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use the entire hand, handle,

walk. The employee is frequently required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The
employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job
include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to
adjust focus. This position may involve working outdoors in Florida, often in hot and humid conditions,
and at events that extend into evening and weekend hours. Must be willing and able to travel for offsite
programming and possess a valid driver's license.
Notes
This is a part-time, term position. Early resignation or department transfer of the position will make
the applicant ineligible for rehire in the education department at LMC. The successful incumbent may
be required to perform tasks beyond the scope of this job description as requested by the supervisor.
This recruitment may be used to select candidates for additional open positions. It is our policy that
all team members, including newly hired, transferred, and promoted team members, will be carefully
monitored and evaluated for an initial introductory 3 month period on the job. After satisfactory
completion of introductory evaluation, such team members will be evaluated annually.
