Job Description

Carbon Nigeria is seeking a Legal and Regulatory Analyst in Lagos, Nigeria. The role involves supporting the legal and compliance department through legal research, managing contract processes, and ensuring regulatory compliance. Responsibilities include monitoring regulatory changes, coordinating audits, and providing legal guidance across teams. Candidates should have a law degree and 2-4 years of relevant experience, along with strong communication and analytical skills.
About This Role
You will support the legal and compliance department by conducting legal research, evaluating regulatory changes, and drafting legal and compliance policies. Responsibilities
Legal Operations
Maintain and optimise contract lifecycle management systems (e.g. contract repository, templates, tracking tools). Manage the end-to-end contracting process: drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and coordinating execution in collaboration with stakeholders. Develop and maintain internal policies, standard operating procedures, and legal guidance documents. Support litigation and dispute resolution processes by coordinating with external counsel and internal teams. Monitor and manage legal budget and spend, including vendor coordination and invoicing. Regulatory Compliance & Reporting:
Track regulatory developments (CBN, NDIC, NITDA, NFIU, FCCPC, etc.) and advise relevant teams on implications. Coordinate timely and accurate regulatory filings, periodic returns, audit responses, and inspections. Maintain a compliance calendar and manage regulatory engagement logs. Support internal audits and compliance reviews, working closely with the Risk, Finance, and Internal Control functions. Prepare reports and presentations for internal committees (e.g. Exco, Board) and external regulators. Support with external audits including CBN, NDPR etc. Engaging regulators including CBN, FCCPC, NDPR etc. Engaging law enforcement agencies. Cross-Functional Support:
Work with Product, Credit, and Customer Experience teams to provide operational legal guidance, particularly around new product features, terms of service, and onboarding processes. Support enterprise risk management and governance frameworks. Support with facilitating training sessions and initiatives to build a strong culture of compliance and legal awareness across teams. Requirements
Education & Experience:


Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LL.B) with BL certification. 2–4 years of post-call experience in legal, compliance, or regulatory roles within a financial institution, fintech, or legal practice. Experience working with regulators or managing regulatory engagements is strongly preferred. Skills & Competencies:
Excellent legal writing, communication, and stakeholder management skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a bias for structure and execution. High integrity, discretion, and reliability when handling sensitive information. Familiarity with regulatory portals (CBN Paperlite, NFIU GoAML, NDPR frameworks, etc.). Competence in tools like Google Workspace, Excel, legal tech software, and project management platforms. Tech savvy.
