ESG Legal Specialist / Sustainability Legal Specialist For nearly 30 years, Environmental Management Centre Pvt Ltd (EMC) has been supporting organizations in integrating sustainability into their strategy, governance, and decision-making. As ESG expectations accelerate across global and Indian markets, we are expanding our team. We are now inviting a legal environmental professional to join us in helping clients navigate complex environmental, social, and governance regulatory requirements. This role is at the intersection of law, sustainability, climate responsibility, and business ethics. At EMC, legal expertise is applied strategically to decode emerging sustainability regulations, strengthen ESG governance, support responsible supply chains, enhance climate resilience, and ensure that sustainable finance, disclosures, and due diligence are credible and compliant. This role will play a critical part in ensuring compliance, managing risks, and strengthening the sustainability performance of leading businesses and investors. Our legal professional will works closely with ESG specialists and climate experts to influence how responsible business is practiced. What Youll Do Interpret and apply environmental, labour, human rights, governance and sustainability-related regulations Support ESG Due Diligence (ESGDD), supply-chain assessments, sustainable finance projects, and assurance work Draft and review ESG-linked policies, codes of conduct, contracts, and compliance frameworks Assess regulatory risks across sectors and geographies; contribute to risk mitigation strategies Develop compliance checklists, guides, and tools for environmental and social regulations Provide legal research support on global frameworks (EU-CSRD, IFC PS, OECD, UNGPs, SEBI BRSR) Work closely with cross-functional ESG and climate teams to blend legal and sustainability insights What Sets You Apart Strong foundation in law with exposure to ESG and sustainability regulatory domains Ability to interpret complex environmental and social regulations and convert them into actionable guidance Excellent drafting skills with experience in policies, contracts, and governance documents Comfort working in a dynamic, mid-sized organization where collaboration and multi-tasking are essential Passion for sustainability, responsible business, and ethical practices Qualifications Bachelors degree in Law (LL.B.) Post Graduate Diploma in Environmental Law, Corporate Law. Certification from National Law University or equivalent. Experience 5 years of professional experience in Environmental laws & labour laws and regulations and familiarity with legal, regulatory, with ESG frameworks.
