**The Position


Swaniti Initiative envisions accelerating Indiaenergy transition toward affordable, reliable, and clean energy for all. The organization is expanding its renewable energy portfolio by deepening work on Energy Storage Systems (ESS) a critical pillar of Indiaenergy transition. As part of this effort, Swaniti is seeking an experienced Energy Storage Consultant to support technical, financial, and policy analysis that will guide deployment of distributed and grid-connected storage solutions.


The consultant will collaborate closely with state DISCOMs, energy departments, policy institutions, renewable energy industries, and federations to conduct feasibility studies, techno-economic modelling, and regulatory assessments for ESS. The role will also involve coordinating with internal teams on renewable energy, data analytics, and policy to ensure programmatic coherence and knowledge integration.


This position will report to SwanitiVertical Lead Energy and Environment and work in close coordination with the Renewable Energy and Policy Teams. While the engagement will focus primarily on stakeholder consultations, case study research, data analysis, and mapping of Indiaenergy storage landscape, the consultant may also contribute to broader analytical and advisory assignments supporting Swanitinational energy transition initiatives.


Requirements The Energy Storage Consultant will play a pivotal role in supporting Swanitienergy transition work by providing technical, analytical, and strategic inputs on distributed and grid-scale battery storage initiatives.


**Key Responsibilities



Technical Financial Analysis: Conduct techno-economic and financial feasibility assessments for distributed and grid-connected energy storage systems, with a focus on DISCOM-level applications.

Data Analytics Modelling: Use quantitative tools and models to evaluate storage performance, cost-benefit ratios, and integration potential with renewables at state and distribution utility levels.

Stakeholder Engagement: Coordinate consultations with DISCOMs, state energy departments, policy think tanks, and private sector players to gather insights and co-develop actionable recommendations.

Knowledge Products: Prepare reports, policy briefs, and presentations synthesizing key findings and recommendations for internal and external stakeholders, including funders and government partners.

Advisory Support: Contribute to the design of pilot interventions, such as battery storage deployment models at substation or feeder levels, and identify financing options or PPP structures to enable implementation.

Policy Regulatory Research: Review and analyse Indiaevolving energy storage policies, regulatory frameworks, and incentive mechanisms to identify opportunities for scaling deployment.
**Expected Deliverables
A technical and policy assessment report outlining opportunities and barriers for distributed and grid-scale energy storage in India.
