Job Description

The Watsan Program Coordinator at Plan International in Jimma, Ethiopia, is responsible for providing technical support for water and sanitation projects, monitoring infrastructure development, and ensuring compliance with design standards. Duties and Responsibilities: The incumbent is responsible to provide appropriate and essential technical support in the planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation for the operationalization of the water and sanitation components of Early Survival and Development of Children. In addition, she or he will co-coordinate and monitor infrastructure development in the Program Unit and supervision construction sites to ensure compliance with design specifications and standards. - Support the Program unit team in formulating program Unit strategies and goals on water, hygiene and sanitation; - Operational CSP, CP, PULTP and operational guidelines with the framework of the technical capacity of Plan staff and community; - Identify and build the technical capacity of plan staff and community volunteers in water works, hygiene and sanitation promotion; - Responsible for the Pus to ensure optimum community involvement in the conceptualization, development, management, monitoring and evaluation of plan’s water and Sanitation projects; - Participate as and when necessary and contribute in regional water and sanitation networks of plan and/ or other actors to influence public policies on water sanitation - Support Pus to establish water supply and sanitation database, and support for establish this data base at the country level as well. Identify, document and disseminate best practices from within and outside plan to staff and other development partner; - Provide technical support through field visits and submit feedback reports to Program Unit Manager; - Ensure quality and timely preparation of concept notes, proposals and reports for grant funding; - Ensure that the established activities on infrastructure are implemented as planed and review and recommend the completion of infrastructure projects to effect payment; - Modify standard designs for health institutions, schools, kindergartens, etc. according to the site setting as and when necessary for the proper execution of the project; - Prepare designs, bill of quantities, specification and bid document for infrastructure development projects - Examines project designs and specifications and estimates quantities of material, manpower and commodities, etc… Necessary to start-up planned construction activates; - Monitor and supervise infrastructure undertaking of PUS and ensure that the works are executed to the standard and as per the contract agreement through frequent visits; - Participation in evaluation of infrastructure development projects jointly with stakeholders and partners; - Submit periodic reports for status of construction projects in the Program unit; Interested applicants should send non-returnable copies of supporting documents with CV and application letter.
