Position Overview Provide specialized support for policies and practices related to energy, climate change, resiliency, and the environment. This role supports internal City operations and the community to advance the City’s sustainability initiatives.

In response to the federal Inflation Reduction Act, the Sustainability Office has received multi-year grant funding to launch a scalable retrofit program aimed at increasing energy affordability and heat resiliency for lower-income households, with an emphasis on equity, workforce capacity building, homeowner advocacy, and innovative financing.

Work is primarily performed in an office environment, with some outdoor work under various weather and traffic conditions.

Physical and Work Environment Factors Light physical demands; mostly desk work, including lifting files and reports, and extensive computer use. Work involves managing multiple demands, deadlines, occasional extended hours, and responding to customer issues. Regular attendance is essential. Position is subject to drug testing per applicable regulations and policies. This is a full-time, regular, exempt position graded RX19.

Key Responsibilities Monitor and measure sustainability targets; collaborate with departments and partners to achieve goals; promote resiliency, emissions reduction, pollution prevention, waste reduction, resource conservation, and environmentally sound purchasing, integrating equity considerations. Prepare and present reports on strategies, progress, and performance metrics. Develop and implement resiliency goals, focusing on natural and human-made shocks, and support vulnerable populations. Build regional and community partnerships to support economic, equity, and environmental initiatives. Stay current with sustainability trends; perform analysis and make policy recommendations. Conduct technical calculations and data analysis; maintain accurate records and reports. Develop long-range plans and policies; evaluate programs and manage special projects. Present findings and recommendations to management. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in relevant fields and two years of professional sustainability experience, or equivalent education and experience. Valid driver’s license required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of sustainability issues, policies, and practices; ability to analyze and recommend initiatives; effective communication skills; proficiency in research, data analysis, and report preparation; ability to operate related tools and equipment; and strong organizational skills.
