We are looking to add new talent to our growing team! We are currently seeking a Staff Environmental Engineer or Environmental Scientist 1 to work in a technical support role with highly skilled professionals on diverse project teams in a dynamic environment. This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing group and company and get involved in a variety of projects for a diverse range of clients. This is a full-time position located in our Makawao, Maui, HI or Honolulu, Oahu, HI offices.


As a Staff Environmental Engineer or Environmental Scientist 1, you will play a vital role in supporting municipal and aviation environmental stormwater compliance programs. Your responsibilities will include supporting technical fieldwork, regulatory compliance, client coordination, and public outreach efforts under the guidance of senior staff. You will perform tasks related to construction and tenant inspections, design reviews, reporting, and assist with engagement activities that promote public understanding of stormwater programs. This position is ideal for candidates looking to grow their careers by developing expertise across compliance, regulatory, and outreach functions in a collaborative environment. DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
In this position, you will:



Split time and responsibilities between field assignments and office assignments.
Prepare and maintain accurate and detailed documentation of activities both in the field and during data evaluation.
Apply academic and industry knowledge, as well as experience gained from prior work experience to execute project work.
Draft technical sections of project communications and reports.
Under the direction of senior staff, participate in communications with clients and internal teams within your discipline.
Prepare and maintain accurate and detailed documentation of activities both in the field and during data evaluation.
Perform all work in accordance with company and client health and safety protocols, including the company’s foundational safety behaviors.

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
Minimum Skills and Requirements:



Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field.
0-2+ years of related experience.
Proficient technical writing, verbal communication, reasoning, and time management skills.
Able to work independently or with minimal direction in performing tasks and assignments under the direction of senior staff.
Desire to learn and grow in your profession, demonstrate a positive attitude, strong work ethic, resourcefulness, flexibility, and ownership.
Able to meet the physical requirements of the position: lift 50 lbs., work outside in a range of weather conditions, and have the stamina for moderate physical activity for the majority of field working hours.
Able to travel to work locations that may require overnight stays.

Preferred Skills:



Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field.
Stormwater program compliance experience.
Experience in public or community outreach programs.
Experience with SPCC (Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure) program implementation and/or training.

The salary range for this position in Makawao, Maui, HI and Honolulu, Oahu, HI is $67,000 - $75,000 annually. Actual compensation will be based upon a variety of factors such as education, related work experience, certificates, skills, and current market conditions. Haley & Aldrich reviews salary ranges each quarter to assess competitiveness with the market.
