Job Description
Wincan Solar Technology Nigeria Limited is seeking a skilled Solar Installer in Ikeja, Nigeria. The role involves complete solar system installation, including mechanical and electrical tasks, inverter programming, system testing, and troubleshooting. Candidates should understand electricity and enjoy problem-solving on-site. The position offers a salary of ₦200,000 to ₦250,000 per month and is full-time, requiring in-person work.
We are looking for a skilled Solar Installer to join our growing team. This is not a basic panel-mounting role. You will be responsible for the complete solar system from roof racks to inverters, from batteries to the utility grid. You will install, wire, program, test, and troubleshoot entire systems to ensure they run safely and at peak performance.
If you understand electricity, enjoy solving problems on-site, and take pride in clean, code-compliant work, we want to hear from you.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Mechanical Installation
· Mount solar panels on tiled, metal, or flat roofs using appropriate racking systems.
· Install ground-mount structures when required.
· Ensure all mounting hardware is torqued correctly and structurally sound.
· Waterproof all roof penetrations to prevent leaks.
2. Electrical Wiring & Connections
· Run DC wiring from panels to combiner boxes and inverters.
· Run AC wiring from inverters to main distribution boards and utility meters.
· Install and terminate junction boxes, conduits, and cable trays.
· Set up safety disconnects, surge protection devices, and grounding systems.
· Connect systems to battery storage units (lithium-ion, lead-acid) where applicable.
3. Inverter Installation & Programming
· Mount and wire string inverters, microinverters, or hybrid inverters.
· Configure inverter settings via onboard interfaces or mobile apps.
· Set up communication protocols (Wi-Fi, Ethernet, or RS485) for remote monitoring.
· Perform firmware updates and ensure inverters are communicating with monitoring platforms.
4. System Testing & Commissioning
· Use multimeters, clamp meters, and insulation testers to verify voltage, current, and resistance.
· Perform polarity checks and continuity tests on all circuits.
· Test string performance and identify underperforming panels.
· Commission the entire system and verify grid-export or self-consumption modes.
· Complete all handover documentation, including test reports and as-built drawings.
5. Troubleshooting & Repair
· Diagnose system faults using error logs, monitoring data, and on-site testing.
· Identify and replace faulty panels, cables, connectors, or inverters.
· Resolve ground faults, arc faults, and isolation issues.
· Rectify low-production complaints by reconfiguring strings or adjusting tilt/azimuth.
· Respond to service call-outs and emergency breakdowns promptly.
