Job Description
The Alabama Department of Education is hiring a Secondary General Science Teacher for the Chambers County Board of Education in Valley, AL. Candidates must have a bachelor's degree, appropriate certification, and meet child protection requirements. The position is exempt from FLSA status and is supervised by the principal.
Teacher The Chambers County Board of Education is seeking a qualified teacher. The position requires a bachelor's degree from an accredited educational institution, certification by the State of Alabama in the appropriate area, subject, and/or grade level assigned, and meeting highly qualified requirements for the grade level and subject(s) assigned. The candidate must also meet suitability criteria for employment under the Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No. 2002-457.
The job is exempt from FLSA status and is supervised by the principal. The teacher should have knowledge of child development, the prescribed curriculum, and current educational research. Skills in oral and written communication, technology use, planning, assessment, and supervision are essential. The teacher's goal is to provide an educational environment that fosters intellectual, emotional, physical, and psychological growth and maturation of students.
The teacher's responsibilities include creating and revising long-range plans, defining goals and objectives, sequencing content, planning and preparing learning activities, establishing a positive and safe learning environment, maintaining academic focus, establishing routines, creating a challenging learning climate, establishing testing environments, organizing procedures, instructing and supervising interns and volunteers, enforcing school rules, developing assessment strategies, using data for instructional planning, providing feedback, communicating student progress, encouraging self-assessment, administering standardized tests, demonstrating curriculum knowledge, communicating high learning expectations, enhancing critical thinking, using appropriate materials and technology, assisting students in assessing information, providing instruction for special needs students, fostering student responsibility and social behavior, collaborating with professionals, providing timely information to parents, working c
