Job Description

The University of Oxford seeks a Postdoctoral Researcher in Food-System Analysis to join an interdisciplinary team at the Environmental Change Institute. The role involves developing global food-system models, conducting analyses on dietary impacts, and collaborating on research outputs. Candidates must have a PhD and strong quantitative skills, with proficiency in data analysis tools. This fixed-term position is full-time and offers a salary between £39,424 and £47,779.
Join a leading interdisciplinary research team working to transform global food systems for health and sustainability. Based at the Environmental Change Institute and collaborating closely with University College London, this role offers the opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research on dietary change, environmental, health, and economic impacts of food systems.

Working with Dr Marco Springmann, you will develop and apply global food-system models, integrating data and methods from across disciplines to assess pathways towards healthier and more sustainable diets. You will contribute to environmental, nutritional, and economic analyses, support the development of new modelling approaches and datasets, and collaborate on high-impact research outputs and publications.

You must hold a PhD/DPhil in a relevant field and have strong quantitative and analytical skills, including experience in food systems modelling or closely related areas. Proficiency in data analysis and coding (e.g. Python, R, GAMS) is essential. You will be comfortable working across disciplines, communicating complex findings clearly, and contributing to collaborative international research.

Informal enquiries may be directed to Dr Marco Springmann: marco.springmann@ouce.ox.ac.uk

This role offers the opportunity to apply advanced analytical skills to globally significant challenges at the intersection of food, health, and the environment.

This post is fixed term until 31 October 2027 and offered on a full time basis (1 FTE / 37.5 hours).
