Job Description
The CA Department of Corrections & Rehabilitation is hiring a Plumber II for a journey-level position at North Kern State Prison in Delano, CA. Responsibilities include installation, maintenance, inspection, and repair of plumbing systems. The role requires troubleshooting, pump installation, and leading other tradespeople. This is a full-time, limited-term position lasting 12 months, with the possibility of extension. The job is not remote and requires in-office work.
Job Description And Duties
Under the direct supervision of the Supervisor of Building Trades, CF and the lead direction of the Plumber III, CF, this journey level position performs the installation, maintenance, inspection, and repair of standard plumbing equipment concerned with water, gas, oil, sewage, and fire control systems. Troubleshoot plumbing systems; install and repair pumps; maintain a plumbing shop; make rough sketches; estimate plumbing installation and repair; advise on selection, ordering and storage of plumbing supplies and equipment; consult with other trades people; keep simple record and make reports; and instruct and lead the work of craftspeople or helpers. All personnel are subject to call backs and may be required to work overtime after hours, weekends, and holidays. If an emergency arises and no other qualified personnel are available, you may be redirected to respond and make the necessary repairs. Limited term 12 months; may be extended up to 24 months or become permanent.

Possession of Minimum Qualifications will be verified prior to interview and/or appointment. Applicants who completed their education outside of the US (with foreign degrees/transcripts) must obtain and submit verification of U.S. course/degree equivalency. Foreign education credential evaluation services can be found at NACES | National Association of Credential Evaluation Services .
Candidates new to CDCR/CCHCS are required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan Fingerprinting, as well as a Tuberculosis test/evaluation prior to appointment, followed by department annual Tuberculosis testing/evaluation thereafter.
