Planetary Health Data Analyst Internship

RA Capital Management is seeking a Planetary Health Data Analyst Intern in Boston, MA. The intern will conduct research on datasets to inform investment decisions related to climate change and environmental health, optimize workflows, and support AI-driven initiatives. Candidates must be Massachusetts residents or attend school there and work on a hybrid schedule in the local office. Strong skills in Python, SQL, and data analytics are required.

Overview

The Planetary Health Data Analyst Intern will conduct proprietary research to extract insights from datasets that inform RA Capital’s investment decisions. This research will leverage existing data infrastructure to generate tailored market intelligence across key sectors related to climate change and environmental health. Additionally, the intern will support internal reporting efforts, optimize workflows, and contribute to AI-driven initiatives across the team.

Candidates must be eager to experiment with ways to incorporate AI into their work to be more efficient and effective. RA Capital is looking for people who are proactive about using AI where possible, looking for new tools and even creating new tools; AI is transforming our work, and we are specifically looking for AI-forward people to ensure that we are leveraging these tools to make us as effective as possible. This is a full-time Boston-based paid internship.

Responsibilities
• Identify and analyze relevant datasets to support Planetary health team’s research and investment strategies.
• Conduct quantitative and qualitative analysis to extract insights on key environmental health and climate-related sectors.
• Streamline data workflows and contribute to internal reporting processes.
• Work within a team to help drive technical innovation and collaborate with teammates to pressure test and validate key findings.

Background / Experience
• Must be a Massachusetts resident or attend a college or university located in Massachusetts.
• Must be willing to be based locally in Boston this summer and be able to work on a hybrid schedule in our local office
• Rising college junior or senior majoring in Computer Science, Economics, or Mathematics or any data analytics-related, with 0-1 years of professional experience.
• Clear interest and/or prior experience in Planetary Health.
• Strong knowledge of Python, SQL, and Tableau.
• Experience with Databricks and experience leveraging AI in either a project or work-related setting.
• Ability to communicate complex analyses and results clearly.
• Excellent attention to detail, organization, and project management skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
