Role DescriptionThis is a full-time remote position supporting California-based projects for a Permit Technician / Plan Set Coordinator / Utility Interconnection Specialist.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing and submitting permit applications, coordinating with California AHJs (Authorities Having Jurisdiction), reviewing plan sets for accuracy and compliance, and managing utility interconnection applications (PG&E and other CA utilities).
This role also requires the ability to make minor revisions and adjustments in CAD drawings as needed to support permit corrections and plan updates.
Key ResponsibilitiesPermitting & Plan Coordination
Prepare and submit solar permit applications across California jurisdictionsCoordinate with AHJs to address plan check comments and correctionsReview plan sets for accuracy, completeness, and code compliance (NEC, CBC, CEC)Track permit status and ensure timely approvalsUtility InterconnectionPrepare and submit utility interconnection applications (PG&E, SCE, SDG&E, etc.)Track application progress through PTO (Permission to Operate)Handle revisions and resubmissions as requiredCAD & Plan AdjustmentsMake minor edits and corrections in CAD drawings (layouts, labels, notes, etc.)Support design updates based on AHJ or utility feedbackCoordinate with design team for larger revisionsCoordination & SupportCollaborate with internal teams (design, operations, installation)Maintain organized records of permits, plans, and approvalsProvide clear communication and updates on project statusQualificationsExperience with California permit applications and building permit processesStrong understanding of plan review and code compliance (NEC, local AHJ requirements)Familiarity with California utilities and interconnection processes (PG&E preferred)Ability to read and interpret solar plan sets and electrical diagramsProficiency in AutoCAD (or similar tools) with ability to make minor plan revisionsStrong organizational skills with attention to detailAbility to manage multiple projects simultaneouslyStrong communication and coordination skillsPreferred QualificationsExperience in the solar or renewable energy industryFamiliarity with Solargraf or similar design/proposal platformsKnowledge of Enphase, Tesla, or similar systemsExperience handling AHJ corrections and resubmittalsBackground in electrical or construction-related fieldsWhy Join Twinpeak SolarWork on high-volume California solar projectsBe part of a fast-growing and efficient operations teamOpportunity to grow into senior permitting, design, or project management rolesFully remote flexibility with a strong team environment👉 “Experience working with U.S.-based solar companies and permitting processes is highly preferred.”
