Job Description

The Off Shift Environmental Health & Safety Technician at Superior Tire & Rubber Corp in Warren, PA, is responsible for ensuring a safe work environment through EHS program implementation, inspections, training, and compliance with safety regulations. Key duties include conducting audits, maintaining safety equipment, documenting incidents, and supporting emergency response planning. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills are essential for this role.
The EHS Technician is responsible for supporting and maintaining a safe work environment by assisting with the implementation and monitoring of EHS programs and policies. The EHS Technician is responsible for ensuring that safety equipment and facilities are maintained to keep employees safe, as well as ensure we have all the proper PPE necessary in the proper locations. They will need to be highly detail and task oriented, as well as have great organizational and documentation skills. It is also important that this position maintains a positive demeanor to help the EHS department build strong relationships with all other departments of this Company.







Essential Job Functions:


1. EHS Inspections and Audits:



Participate in EHS related inspections and audits of the workplace to identify hazards, unsafe conditions, and non-compliance with EHS standards. Report findings to the EHS Supervisor.
Knows and complies with all policies and procedures in maintaining inspection and compliance criteria as defined in our Lockout/Tagout, Respirator, Fork Truck, and Fall Protection programs and all other EHS procedures.
Identify and report potential hazards, safety violations, and areas for improvement.
Reports unsafe and/or potentially dangerous situations to the EHS Supervisor

2. EHS Training:



Regularly attend pre-shift shop safety meetings to audit for content and compliance as directed
Maintain records of training sessions and employee certifications as directed
Ensures employee adherence to EHS policy and compliance to EHS procedures for all work activities and personnel.
Provides EHS related training to individuals as directed
Track employee training records and help ensure compliance with EHS training requirement

3. Accident and Incident Reporting:



Participate in incident investigations as directed
Maintain records of workplace incidents as directed
Report unsafe and/or potentially dangerous situations to supervision

4. EHS Procedures and Policies:



Support the implementation of EHS policies, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations.

5. Emergency Response Planning:



Assists in the development of emergency response plans as directed
Maintain the Emergency Response Team roster and schedule training as directed
Participate in drills and exercises to test emergency preparedness.
Maintain emergency equipment and supplies.

6. Regulatory Compliance:



Maintain and adhere to Safety Compliance Calendar
File and maintain inspection documentation in accordance with ISO and OSHA regulations as outlined in our Safety Inspection Program
Works with Safety Supervisor to ensure compliance with all safety policies and procedures and improve safety operations and procedures.
Execute tasks as assigned that ensure compliance with federal, state, and local safety laws.
Assist in preparing and submitting reports to regulatory agencies as required.

7. Safety Equipment and Supplies:



Monitor the use and condition of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Order, distribute, and maintain safety equipment and supplies as necessary.

8. Documentation and Record Keeping:



Maintain and organize safety-related documents, reports, and records.
Understands and complies with all safety related policies and procedures.
Works with Safety Supervisor & Continuous Improvement Project Manager to ensure documentation of all safety policies and procedures are tracked and filed appropriately.

9. Safety Communication:



Help in the dissemination of safety information, updates, and reminders to employees through safety meetings, posters, and other communication channels as directed

10. Safety Committee



Be an active participating member of the site safety committee.

Supervisory Responsibilities:



This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities






Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:



Non-Exempt Hourly
Monday through Friday
2nd or 3rd shift






Travel:



Limited travel in the Warren area






Work Environment:



While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in a Manufacturing environment.
The individual will work around chemicals, metal, high heat and machinery.






Physical Demands:



The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel, or operate objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand, talk and hear.
Occasional heavy lifting up to 50 lbs.






Required Education and Experience:



High School Diploma or equivalent.
Relevant safety certifications (e.g., OSHA 30-hour, CPR, First Aid).
Knowledge of safety regulations and standards.






Competencies/Skills:



Understand and communicate in English
Submit reports on work activities and progress of work to the EHS supervisor and EHS manager.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Outlook, and Excel
Passion to prevent injuries and protect all employees
Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
Able to build trust and maintain relationships at all levels of the organization
Good judgement/decision making
Ability to work individually and as part of a team
