Marine Assessment and Analysis Consultant [URGENT VACANCY]

WWF-Philippines seeks a Marine Assessment and Analysis Consultant for its Bicol Conservation Program to develop a web-based data management application for whale shark records. The role involves requirements analysis, system design, coding, testing, deployment, and user training. Key features include multi-user access, a user dashboard, photo upload, tagging system, and advanced filtering. This is a full-time position based in Quezon City, Metro Manila, Philippines.
WWF Philippines' Bicol Conservation Program proposes the development of a custom web-


based data management application that will streamline the storage, retrieval, and analysis of whale shark records and associated imagery. The web application will enable easier, real-time access from any location, support collaboration use, and simplify system updates and maintenance through centralized management. The project will cover a full application development life cycle – from requiring analysis, database architecture, and UI/UX design to system development, deployment, and user training.

Expected Deliverables A customized web application with the following features and functionalities:

Multi-User Access Levels and Authentication – access is only available to authorized users,
ensuring that only authorized users can view, edit, or manage data. Levels: Administrator,
regular user





User dashboard – Individualized interface allowing regular users to navigate and manage only their own data and uploads, but availability to view data from others.

Photo upload system – Enables used to upload whale shark images directly to the repository.

Metadata input – allows user to enter detailed information (e.g., date, location, shark ID)
for each uploading photo.


Tagging system – supports tagging specific whale shark features such as fins, scars, and entanglements for easy classification. Advanced filtering – lets users filter images based on tags, dates, locations, or other metadata for efficient retrieval.


Search bar – provides quick access to specific entries through keyword or ID searches. Data export for data analysis – allows export of cleaned and structured data for use in research or reporting.


Sightings database – record of sightings of individuals whale sharks as reported by field research teams.
