Lead / Senior Associate - Accounting

Enduring Planet is seeking a Lead/Senior Associate - Accounting to join its remote team, focusing on managing day-to-day accounting operations for climate tech startups and SMBs. Responsibilities include bookkeeping, invoicing, payroll administration, and financial reporting. Candidates should have a degree in finance or accounting, with 4-5 years of experience preferred. The position prioritizes underrepresented candidates and requires working hours from 6AM to 2PM Eastern Time.
Enduring Planet is a specialized financial services firm designed specifically for the “New Climate Economy.” We bridge the gap between traditional venture capital and bank debt by providing non-dilutive working capital and fractional CFO services to climate tech startups and small-to-medium businesses (SMBs). We prioritize investments into underrepresented founders, diverse teams, and startups serving marginalized communities.

We are seeking individuals across senior levels to join our Accounting team within the Fractional CFO segment. This individual will play a key role in managing day-to-day accounting operations for Enduring Planet customers, ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and timely delivery of financial insights. We are specifically looking for a candidate based internationally (Pakistan preferred) who will work remotely. Working hours for this role are 6AM to 2PM Eastern Time to ensure overlap with client working hours. Priority will be given to underrepresented/diverse candidates.

Typical Responsibilities Core Responsibilities (Applicable to All Levels)
• Bookkeeping and accounting for customers, including establishing and maintaining a chart of accounts, monthly reconciliation of transactions, project/Grant tracking through classes etc.
• Manage customer invoices, track payments, and handle collections through dedicated platforms like stripe, shopify etc. and share AR summaries with the client
• Process vendor bills, ensure timely payments, and maintain accurate records including setting up the client to dedicated platforms based on their business needs (bill.com/ramp/brex) and sharing AP summaries with the client.
• Build and maintain process documents and SOPs for the clients on a regular basis
• Payroll administration including payroll processing through dedicated platforms, month end payroll reconciliation, accruals and payroll allocation as per projects.
• Grant, project tracking and preparing relevant reports including investor reports for timely reporting
• Interfacing with the broader Fractional CFO team and company leadership to support other efforts under CFO and the broader Enduring Planet platform.
• Take full ownership of identifying, escalating, and resolving project issues by aligning internal teams and maintaining transparent communication with clients to ensure successful delivery.
• Maintain compliance with state and local sales tax regulations and support audits when required.

Basic Qualifications - Senior Associate / Lead
• Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field or ACCA, CMA, CA and other equivalent qualifications preferred.
• Minimum of four to five years of work experience in bookkeeping/accounting.
• Relevant work experience with startup or SMB customers preferred.
• Experience with one of the Big 4 accounting firms (Deloitte, EY, KPMG, or PwC) is a plus.
• Past experience working in Climate Change, Sustainability, or related fields is a plus.

Required Across All Levels
• Detailed knowledge of GAAP in the US, Canada, and Europe preferred
• Experience with working in Quickbooks, Sage, Xero, Google Sheets, and other comparable platforms.
• Strong project management skills.
• Strong oral and written communications skills.
