Job Description

Westinghouse Electric - USA is seeking a Grid Integration & Solar Repower Preconstruction Lead for a 1-year contract in Juno Beach, FL. The role involves transforming repower concepts into construction-ready plans, managing schedules, budgets, permits, and contracts for utility-scale solar projects. Candidates should have a degree in Engineering or related fields, with 6+ years of preconstruction experience and knowledge of solar PV and grid interconnection practices.
Are you the one who can turn a repower concept into a construction-ready plan?

If tackling complex preconstruction for utility-scale solar excites you, this 1-year W-2 contract could be your next move. As the Preconstruction Lead for Solar Repower (T&S), you will translate existing asset conditions into improved repower designs, then orchestrate schedules, budgets, permits, and contracts to hand off a build-ready project—safely, on time, and on budget.

What challenges will you solve?
• How do we align multi-disciplinary engineering (electrical, civil, structural, mechanical) to optimize repower outcomes?
• What’s the fastest path to secure permits and ensure compliance with all codes and safety regulations?
• How do we de-risk interconnection studies and grid integration requirements within T&S constraints?
• Which vendors meet technical specs, and how do we structure contracts to protect cost and schedule?
• What’s the right strategy to meet safe harbor equipment and tax credit compliance timelines?

Your core responsibilities
• Lead preconstruction from development handoff through execution turnover
• Build and maintain detailed schedules, budgets, and risk registers across multiple projects
• Oversee engineering deliverables and coordinate utility interconnection processes
• Partner with environmental teams on permitting strategy; coordinate with agencies, utilities, and local authorities
• Ensure adherence to codes, standards, and safety regulations
• Support procurement: specifications, vendor qualification, and contract negotiations
• Track budgets and forecasts; support cost capitalization and financial reporting; report key financial metrics
• Facilitate reviews, lead milestone presentations, and prepare for commissioning with operations

What you’ll need to succeed
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical field
• 6+ years of utility-scale renewable preconstruction PM or engineering experience
• Experience navigating utility interconnection processes
• Knowledge of utility-scale solar construction; PMP certification is optional

Technical fluency
• Solar PV and battery storage know-how
• Power systems, grid interconnection practices, and utility regulations
• Environmental permitting and regulatory compliance
• Safe harbor provisions and renewable energy tax credits
• Project management and scheduling software; strong Excel skills
