Role Description
The Grants Writer is a full-time, on-site role based in Nairobi County, Kenya. This role is responsible for identifying funding opportunities, conducting prospect research, and developing high-quality grant proposals and concept notes aligned with the hub’s programs and strategic priorities.


The Grants
Writer will manage the full grant lifecycle, including coordinating internal inputs, preparing budgets with relevant teams, tracking deadlines, and maintaining accurate grant documentation and records. Day-to-day tasks include drafting and editing grant applications, preparing reports for funders, supporting fundraising campaigns, and ensuring compliance with donor requirements. The role collaborates closely with program teams, finance, and leadership to articulate impact, gather evidence, and present compelling cases for support.
Qualifications

Strong grant writing and proposal writing skills, with the ability to produce clear, persuasive, and well-structured narratives.
Experience in grant administration, including managing timelines, documentation, and reporting requirements.
Proficiency in prospect research to identify and assess potential funders and funding opportunities.
Fundraising experience, including supporting campaigns, donor engagement, or partnership development.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; ability to tailor messages for different audiences.
Strong analytical and research skills, with attention to detail and accuracy in data and budget-related content.
Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and work independently to meet multiple deadlines.
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, International Development, Business, Environmental Studies, or a related field; relevant experience in the sustainability, circular economy, or impact/NGO sector is an advantage.
Proficiency with productivity tools (e.g., word processing, spreadsheets, project management software) and basic familiarity with grant management systems is beneficial.
