Job Description

Bio-Techne is hiring an Environmental and Sustainability Specialist in Minneapolis, MN. The role requires 3-5 years of experience in Environmental, Health, and Safety, focusing on EHS initiatives, safety policies, and sustainability practices. Responsibilities include managing safety records, preparing regulatory reports, hazardous waste management, and participating in safety committees. Candidates should have a relevant degree, strong organizational skills, and knowledge of environmental regulations.

Summary: We are seeking an experienced Environmental, Health, and Safety professional with a strong background in environmental health and sustainability. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of experience with a proven track record of leading EHS initiatives.

This position is responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of the safety records, programs, and implementation of safety policies at our Minneapolis, MN site. Employee must be detailed orientated and able to work within a team and with other employees of Bio-Techne. They will be expected to:

· Willingness to manage and occasionally author SDSs through a management system

· Identify gaps and implement programs in environmental and sustainability practices

· Help prepare reports for regulatory agencies (Tier II, air emissions, Water monitoring, SMRs) and acquire necessary permits

· Have demonstrated working knowledge of county and state regulations regarding environmental practices

· Have working knowledge of ISO 14001

· Assist with hazardous waste management programs

· Help create, manage and implement safety policies

· Manage and support an environmental calendar

· Create EHS performance reports for management to review

· Participate in the safety committee, Sustainability and Green team committees

· Respond to spills

Duties/Responsibilities:

· Update and generate Safety Datasheets and hazard labels

· Perform Job Hazard Analyses

· Act as a point of contact for Environmental related questions

· Perform weekly haz storage room inspections

· Create and maintain waste profiles, sign, and maintain hazardous waste manifests

· Develop and implement sustainability initiatives

· File reports with government regulatory agencies

· Obtain required permits for the site

Duties/Responsibilities

· Vendor management

· Investigate workplace incidents and adverse events

Required:

Education and Experience:

· Bachelor’s Degree in related field or equivalent experience in a related field

· 3-5 year of relevant experience

· Ability to work with all levels of the organization

· Accident investigation experience

· Root cause analysis

· Working knowledge of IATA, DGR, CFR.

· Experience with Microsoft Office

· Ability to wear a respirator

· Ability to work standing 8hrs and lift 50lbs

Desired:

· ISO 14001 experience

· OSHA 30

· HAZWOPER 24

· USDOT Hazmat or IATA certification

· First aid/CPR certificate (NSC or American Red Cross)

· Previous lab experience

· Professional certification (REHS, ASP, GSP, CSP)

· Organizational skills, detail oriented, and the ability to prioritize

· Skilled in MS Office and smartsheets

· Ability to communicate effectively; oral and written
