Ecological Restoration Technician

Bluestem Ecology is hiring a part-time Ecological Restoration Technician in Grand Rapids, MI. The role involves physically demanding work related to ecological consulting and land management, including invasive species removal and habitat creation. Candidates should be pursuing a degree in natural resource management and have plant identification skills. The position requires a Michigan pesticide applicators license, and offers a flexible schedule with pay ranging from $16 to $20 per hour.

The services we provide includes: invasive species removal/herbicide application, native plant landscaping, prescribed burning, habitat creation for both wildlife and game species, bioswale/rain garden installations, prairie creations, etc..**
*The work with this job is often physically demanding, in all kinds of weather, with many thorns and insects. Expect to work hard. The position requires the use of hand tools, chainsaw, brush saw, propane torch, backpack sprayers, etc.. A Michigan pesticide applicators license would be required for the position, with the testing fee reimbursed upon passing of the exam. PPE will be provided.*I am looking for someone who posseses or is actively pursuing 4 year degree in natural resource management (or a related field). Ideal candidates have plant identifications skills, including invasive species, or even have experience with invasive species control.
This is a part time job and would be 10 - 25 hours per week.
