This is a high-impact opportunity for experienced strategy professionals who want to apply their analytical strengths and commercial mindset to ESG initiatives that shape long-term value across global portfolios.
As a Consultant or Senior Consultant in Private Markets Value Creation, you'll work at the intersection of strategy, finance, and sustainability—advising investment teams, influencing C-suite decisions, and guiding portfolio companies toward meaningful, measurable impact. If you're passionate about market analysis, growth strategy, and embedding ESG into business performance, this role offers a strategic platform to deepen your expertise and accelerate your career.
This position can be based in Manhattan, Washington DC, Philadelphia, Chicago, Boston, Toronto, or Houston.
## Why This Role Matters
Private markets investors are increasingly turning to ESG and impact strategies to enhance value, strengthen competitive positioning, and future-proof their portfolios. You'll directly contribute to shaping these strategies—helping investors navigate sustainability trends, identify value creation opportunities, and translate ESG insights into commercial outcomes. Your work will influence investment decisions, operational priorities, and long-term business strategy across diverse sectors.
## What Your Impact Will Be
You'll lead strategic advisory engagements that help clients develop and implement ESG & impact strategies that unlock long-term value. You'll translate sustainability insights into top- and bottom-line growth, strengthen commercial positioning through market and customer analytics, and build financial models that quantify ESG's contribution to performance. Additionally, you'll communicate complex strategic recommendations to investor and executive audiences, collaborate with global experts to deliver integrated ESG solutions, and mentor rising team members while strengthening client relationships.
## What You'll Bring
### Required Background and Skills
You'll need a Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Sustainability, or a related field—or equivalent professional experience. The position requires 3+ years in top-tier strategy consulting with a focus on strategy development, market analysis, and financial modeling.
Your technical skill set should include strong Power. Point storytelling and presentation development capabilities, along with Excel modeling skills (advanced proficiency is a plus). You'll need experience designing and executing strategic initiatives that drive value, a clear understanding of private equity and/or infrastructure investing, and familiarity with ESG and sustainability concepts and their financial implications. Strong analytical and quantitative abilities are essential, with the demonstrated capacity to derive insights from complex data.
Relevant sector experience is valuable—particularly in technology, healthcare, infrastructure, consumer goods, pharmaceuticals, business services, or manufacturing. You should be proactive, adaptable, results-driven, collaborative, and genuinely passionate about sustainability.
Please note: This position is not eligible for immigration sponsorship.
### Preferred Qualifications
An advanced degree such as an MBA or similar is preferred. Direct experience supporting investment teams or portfolio companies, along with experience presenting to executive-level audiences, would strengthen your candidacy.
## Your Day-to
- Day Responsibilities
In client and project leadership, you'll lead the development and execution of ESG and impact strategies that deliver competitive advantage and measurable value. You'll conduct market assessments to identify sustainability trends, customer dynamics, and emerging opportunities. Creating pricing strategies aligned with ESG value propositions to strengthen market positioning falls within your scope, as does building and analyzing financial models to quantify the revenue and profitability impact of ESG initiatives.
You'll identify both top- and bottom-line growth opportunities connected to sustainability and partner with private equity investment teams, operating partners, and portfolio company leadership to embed ESG into business strategy. Developing and delivering compelling presentations that translate complex ESG insights into clear strategic recommendations will be a regular part of your work.
On the team leadership and collaboration side, you'll work with ERM's global network of subject-matter experts to deliver integrated solutions, provide coaching and support to junior consultants to foster collaboration and team performance, and strengthen relationships with clients through excellent service delivery and thought leadership.
