The Conservation Aid 1 is a seasonal position at the State of Nevada, located in Hiko, NV. It involves assisting in various conservation projects, conducting surveys, and providing clerical support. Overview: The Conservation Aid 1 is a seasonal status position that assists professional staff in a variety of projects involving the conservation and preservation of the State's natural resources. This entry-level position is part of the Conservation Aid series and provides training in performing part of the duties described above. Responsibilities:
* Perform creel census surveys at boat landings or shorelines
* Conduct standardized stream survey and inventory
* Assist with the operation of hunter check stations
* Assist in a variety of conservation education and public relations activities
* Assist with surveys to obtain wildlife population data
* Assist in conducting surveys related to range and forest health, air and water quality, insect populations, and soils
* Assist in habitat management projects
* Participate in resource conservation projects such as timber stand improvement, timber harvest, insect and disease abatement, and more
* Perform clerical support duties such as answering telephones, maintaining records, and operating office machines
* Perform related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
* General knowledge of basic math and measuring techniques
* Read and follow oral and written directions
* Communicate orally with co-workers and the public
* Ability to assist professional staff in conservation-related projects
