The Wetlands Institute is hiring a Coastal Bird Program Research Assistant in Stone Harbor, NJ. Responsibilities include assisting with surveys and monitoring of various bird species, data recording, and equipment maintenance. This temporary position requires approximately 40 hours per week, including early mornings, weekends, and holidays. Candidates must be able to walk long distances in marshes and tolerate variable weather conditions.
The Wetlands Institute, located in Stone Harbor, New Jersey, is seeking qualified applicants to assist with breeding season studies of wading birds, beach-nesting birds, and secretive-marsh birds for our Coastal Bird Program. Primary responsibilities include assisting with surveys of breeding colonies and focal nesting areas, nest monitoring, vegetation metrics, capture and banding, acoustic monitoring, and habitat use surveys, as well as with other surveys and tasks as assigned. The Research Assistant will be responsible for recording detailed observations and data in the field, data entry and management, and maintenance of equipment. This is a temporary, hourly position (approx. 40 hrs/week) that will include regular early morning, weekend, and holiday hours.
