Job Description

GFT is seeking a Water & Wastewater Treatment Process Engineer in Ottawa, ON, under a hybrid work model requiring regular office attendance. Responsibilities include designing municipal servicing projects, coordinating with stakeholders, managing project scope and budget, preparing construction documents, and mentoring junior staff. Candidates should have a Bachelor's in Mechanical or Civil Engineering, P.Eng. licensure, and 4 years of relevant experience. Salary ranges from $86,000 to $126,000.
What You Will Do
GFT is building a pipeline of Water/Wastewater Treatment Process Engineering talent to join our Water team in Toronto, Mississauga or Ottawa ON. This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring regular attendance at one of those offices. Joining the water team at GFT means contributing to innovative solutions for sustainable water management and infrastructure. Our team excels in dams and levees, advanced water and wastewater treatment, stormwater management, and conveyance, collection, and transmission. With a focus on integrating technology, sustainability, and compliance, we consider each water resources and environmental remediation project a chance to innovate and evolve to protect public health and enhance quality of life.


What You'll Be Challenged To Do

Undertake the design of both public and private sector municipal servicing projects (i.e. sewage pumping stations and water booster stations, elevated tanks, reservoirs, and water/wastewater treatment systems) including engineering drawings, engineering reports, presentations, and required applications to regulatory and/or funding agencies.
Coordinate the design with review/input from the various municipal/utility/approval agencies/stakeholders and obtain all necessary approvals.
Liaise with clients, municipalities, and other agencies to secure approvals.
Assist developing and managing project scope, budget, staffing and schedule.
Prepare contract documents for construction (i.e. engineering drawings and specifications).
May conduct construction inspection services and construction administration.
May provide services during construction that can include submittal reviews, responses to requests for information and contract document clarifications.
Participate in constructability review.
Conduct quality assurance and quality control on projects.
Mentor recently hired junior team members on the various facets of municipal infrastructure design.
Prepare portions of engineering project proposals, change orders, client contact and communication pertaining to specific projects.
Complete tasks accurately and efficiently with minimum supervision.

Education and Experience

Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Civil engineering.
P.Eng. licensure with P.E.O.
4 years of experience in the execution of water and wastewater infrastructure (sewer pumping stations, booster pumping stations, reservoir and elevated tanks and water and wastewater treatment plants) projects.

What You Will Bring To Our Firm

P.Eng. licensure with P.E.O.
4 years of experience in the execution of water and wastewater infrastructure projects.

What We Prefer You Bring

Experience with Master Planning, Class EAs and DWWP and/or ECA process in Ontario considered or equivalent in other provinces is considered an asset.
Contract administration experience is considered an asset.

Compensation
The salary range for this position is 86,000.00 - 126,000.00 $ dependent upon experience and geographic location.
