Job Description

Denison University is seeking a Visiting Assistant Professor in Earth and Environmental Sciences for a three-year term, starting August 2026. The role involves teaching two undergraduate lecture+lab sections per semester, with a focus on geomorphology, GIS, and hydrology. Candidates should have a Ph.D. or be A.B.D. Preference is for those who can engage undergraduates in research. Applications are open until the position is filled, with priority given to those submitted by May 4, 2026.
The Department of Earth & Environmental Sciences at Denison University seeks a broadly trained environmental scientist in a three-year visiting assistant professorship to teach two undergraduate lecture+lab sections per semester.







The ideal candidate should have demonstrated expertise in geomorphology with an environmental emphasis and proven ability to teach GIS with preference to candidates who can also teach hydrology. This position will also require teaching introductory Earth or Environmental Science.







We seek an engaged scholar-teacher who can complement our departmental strengths in biogeochemistry, sedimentology/stratigraphy, structural geology, petrology and meteorology/climate. Although not required, incorporating undergraduates into research is encouraged. Funding for research and summer research students are available.

Qualifications







Candidates who are A.B.D. will be considered although preference will be for candidates who have completed their Ph.D.
