Job Description

BGIS is seeking a Sustainability Manager in Toronto, ON, responsible for identifying project opportunities and coordinating sustainability initiatives in corporate real estate. The role requires at least 5 years of experience in sustainability and a degree in a related field. Key duties include developing sustainable standards, collaborating on tools, and supporting reporting efforts. The position involves significant client interaction and may require WELL or LEED accreditation.
The Sustainability Manager( BMO Client)is responsible for contributing to the identification of project opportunities, solution development and program coordination during the implementation stage as related to Sustainability initiatives. The role requires a person with passion and experience in real estate sustainability. They should be a combination of influencer, advisor and facilitator of corporate sustainability action in CRE practices. This role will include activities across the CRE portfolio, which includes extensive real estate portfolio of Retail and Corporate spaces, across Canada and the United States primarily. Part of the role will also be dedicated to rolling out sustainability tools and level-setting resources designed to aid functions and categories on their sustainability journeys.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES*
• *Sustainable Standards

- Manage development and integration of Sustainable Standards for Design and Construction, Environmental Management Systems, Waste Management and Circularity in business practices for the client’s Corporate Real Estate group.
Cross Functional Collaboration*
• *Tools

- Support in the development and activation of sustainability tools that measure, track and predict progress and priorities, and streamline ways of working.
Reporting and Documentation
- Collaborate with communications team and Corporate Sustainability Office for quarterly or annual reports.
- Support delivering sustainability reporting used to meet KPI’s and contract deliverables.
- Generate professional reports for sustainability assessments.
Sustainability Objectives

- Support client sustainability initiative\objectives and assist on strategic vision.
- Provide input to and support action plans to increase customer satisfaction.
CSR
- Assist in development of CSR.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
- Minimum 5 years experience in sustainability in a related field such as architecture, engineering, construction, building operations and management in Canada/US or North America.
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree in environmental studies, architecture, engineering or other related discipline.
- Knowledge of environmental impacts of design, construction and operation of real estate and sustainable practices.
- High level understanding of Greenhouse Gas quantification.
- An effective leader that can impact across the organization with strong communications skills and technical proficiency. Work experience in related fields and passion for sustainability are a must.
- Knowledge in WELL, BOMA BEST, and other sustainability metrics.
- Advanced skills in MS Excel. Strong MS Word skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with high levels of client interaction.
- Strong administrative skills including documentation standards and project management.
- Appreciation of financial reporting requirements.
- Knowledge of facility management services would be beneficial.
Licenses and/or Professional Accreditation


WELL or LEED accreditation would be an asset.
