Insight Global is seeking a Sustainability Manager for a large commercial retailer in Mississauga, ON. The role involves evaluating and improving energy efficiency and emissions reduction strategies across stores, requiring expertise in ESG, energy, and utilities. Candidates should have 5+ years of relevant experience and a strong understanding of the Canadian market. This is a full-time position with no people management responsibilities.
JOB DESCRIPTION

Insight Global is looking for a Manager of Sustainability for a large commercial retailer in Canada. This is not a people management role. You will be evaluating, and applying suggestions for improving efficiency, processes, and programs. Identify and develop new data centric products and/or applications for reducing our emissions footprint and improving the energy efficiency of the stores, in terms of regulatory compliance and corporate emissions goals. This role will require to compare energy consumption, and goals across hundreds of stores and compare to US counterparts for ideas and standards. This role will require the individual to have an understanding of the Canadian landscape to determine where is best to start certain sustainability efforts and how to roll-out those initiatives effectively.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

- 5+ years of experience working within ESG (Energy or Sustainability focus)

- Experience working for a large Canadian enterprise

- Commercial retail experience

- Strong background in energy, emissions, and utilities

- Ability to conduct comprehensive feasibility analysis of new products and/or applications to determine viability for Renewable Energy and Zero Emissions adoption into stores.

- Feasibility analysis includes technical viability, business case analysis for proposed return on investment and resource analysis for opportunity to scale and leverage cost position.

- Experience developing the execution plan for the proposed initiatives considering availability and impact for store operations, supply chain, local (installation) resource constraints and seasonality.

- Experience establishing a post audit process to validate objectives and to inform project/product scope or design iterations as well as identify potential resource limitations.

- Experience monitoring utility rates decisions by performing or coordinating in-depth rate and pricing analyses

- Experience reviewing final utility contracts; leading negotiations on unique contracts; and preparing contracts for approval by executives.

- Educational experience in Energy and Sustainability

NICE TO HAVE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

- Experience working at large Canadian grocery enterprise

- Understand and articulate the refrigeration/refrigerants system objectives, with respect to efficiency improvement or refrigerant transition
