Burns & McDonnell is seeking a Staff Environmental Advisor in Glasgow, UK, to work on the environmental and sustainable design of infrastructure projects. The role involves collaborating with engineers on various projects, modifying production drawings, ensuring environmental compliance, and supporting project management. Candidates should have a relevant degree and preferably 3 years of advisory experience in consulting or construction.

The Environmental Advisor will work on environmental and sustainable design of infrastructure projects in co-operation with our engineers and consultants to create world-class designs. This could include new projects, alterations and redevelopments on various projects, including power, process, corporate, healthcare, pipeline, airports, institutional, industrial, manufacturing, government and military facilities. The Environmental Advisor will work with the project team throughout the design and construction process, supporting on-site works whilst adapting environmental and sustainability plans according to budget constraints, design factors or client needs.
Contribute to the environmental design of projects from the conceptual phase through design completion under the direction of a licensed professional engineer.
Modify and review production drawings for various projects including, but not limited to, power plants, process facilities, industrial facilities, healthcare facilities, airports, educational institutions, commercial, and governmental and military facilities.
Design environmental components for project needs and requirements the project managers set forth.
Applies good knowledge of commonly used environmental engineering/design concepts, principles, practices, codes, and procedures within the environmental engineering services industry.
Research and compile project-related data as required by the project managers.
Update drawings provided by senior engineers to verify corrections are made within multiple CAD-related software.
Compiles information for client presentations, shop drawing reviews, and contract administration for the design of power, process, pipeline, industrial, healthcare, airports, educational institutions, commercial, and governmental and military facilities.
Support our environmental management team with regular on-site presence to oversee construction works and inspections, to ensure environmental compliance for public and private clients.
Participate in sales and marketing efforts and identify critical pursuits and tenders.
Contribute to developing cost proposals and qualification statements to achieve stated targets and standards for financial performance.
Contribute to project budgeting, cost estimation and reporting of project performance.
Effective communication with other engineering disciplines.
Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications
Bachelor of Science, Engineering, Technology or related degree from an accredited program.
Associate or Chartership of a relevant professional body or equivalent.
3 years of consulting or construction site advisory experience preferred
Some experience in ecology and/or landscape architecture and/or consents & permitting and/or air quality or acoustics would be an advantage.
Experience in GIS would also be an advantage.
An understanding of environmental legislative and regulatory requirements and consents process in Scotland.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment and demonstrated critical thinking skills.
Knowledge of standard/best practice engineering techniques and procedures.
Strong computer skills.
Strong attention to detail, collaboration, organization and problem-solving skills.
This job posting will remain open a minimum of 72 hours and on an ongoing basis until filled.
