RSK Middle East is seeking a Senior/Principal Environmental Consultant in Abu Dhabi/Dubai. The role involves managing large-scale environmental assessments, providing technical leadership, consulting with stakeholders, and overseeing project finances. Candidates should have a relevant BSc and preferably an MSc, with over 6 years of experience in environmental consulting within the Middle East. The position requires expertise in various environmental disciplines and project management skills.
An opportunity has arisen for a highly experienced Senior/Principal Environmental Consultant to join our business in the UAE to help deliver high-level consultancy services.The Successful Candidate’s Duties And Responsibilities Will IncludeProject manage and author large scale environmental, social and health impact assessments (ESHIA), strategic environmental assessments (SEA), and environmental and social due diligence audits for major energy, industrial and infrastructure clients in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Iraq, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) and the wider region in line with local and national legislation, standards and guidelines, and relevant international standards, guidelines, and best practicesProvide technical leadership, co-ordination, technical review, and direction on projectsConsult with stakeholders and effectively manage sub-consultantsManage project finances, overseeing the production of deliverables in line with the client’s expectations and ensuring delivery is on time.Coordinate major tender submissions, working with other RSK departments to ensure we have the best opportunity for winning the tenderDevelop and maintain relationships with clients and regulatory authoritiesRepresent the business at internal and external events where appropriateAssist colleagues when they are under pressure to meet clients’ expectationsPrepare and deliver internal training in their field of expertiseSupport the environment team leader by providing oversight to the wider team, including the mentoring of 2-3 junior staff as per the team pod structurePerson SpecificationBSc degree level qualified in a relevant environmental discipline or engineering discipline (preferably chemical/environmental engineers)Preference for an MSc degree in environmental consulting, environmental management, environmental technology, ESHIA, environmental engineering or related environmental or engineering subjectOver 6 years previous experience working in environmental consulting including providing permitting support, environmental monitoring, environmental management planning, compliance audits, modelling and site assessments for energy, industrial and infrastructure clients within the Middle EastExperience of working in an international consultancySpecialist in a particular discipline – biodiversity, air quality, climate change, noise, soil and groundwater etc.Membership of a relevant professional body (i.e., IEMA, IEA or equivalent) - chartered or working towards chartered statusExcellent understanding of the ESHIA process, international environmental and social legislation, guidelines and standards, and international project financing mechanisms and implicationsExperience in chairing environmental impact identification (ENVID) workshops for energy, industrial and infrastructure projectsExperience in providing technical alternatives and solutions to technical clarifications and design solutions to the clients in an energy, industry and planning settingAbility to lead multi-disciplinary teams working on a range of environmental inputs across energy, industrial and infrastructure projects, as applicableExperience in negotiating with regulators to achieve the best environmental outcome for the clientExperience of working on multiple projects, simultaneouslyRobust project management, including scheduling, staff resource management, and budget managementExcellent written English and verbal communication, presentation, and organisational skillsAbility to produce robust and comprehensive written deliverablesProactive networkerFull driving licenseSalary And BenefitsThis is a full-time post with an employment package commensurate with experienceRegular training and development will be provided.We operate an open and relaxed management culture that nurtures continuous improvement and innovation.
