Job Description
F.W. Webb is hiring a Senior Environmental Technician for their Cranston, RI office. The role involves environmental sample collection, project support in areas like mold remediation and disaster response, and requires fieldwork and travel. Candidates need a degree in a relevant field, 2 years of experience, and skills in documentation and communication. The position is not remote as it requires work within specific states.
Alliance Environmental Group, a Division of the F.W. Webb Company, is seeking an Environmental Technicianwith experience in the environmental consulting industry to support our Cranston, Rhode Island office. The work is to be performed within the company footprint (CT – MA – ME – NH – NJ – NY – PA – RI – VT).
The candidate will assist with sample collection of diverse materials including, but not limited to, soil, sediment, water, and air for environmental tests and will be responsible for working on diverse projects such as mold remediation, disinfection work, wastewater and stormwater sampling, disaster response and emergency response cleanups, duct cleaning, chemical pumping services, post-construction cleanups, and environmental remediation projects.
The candidate will provide legible, accurate, and comprehensive documentation of all field-related activities to senior level project personnel, and provide additional field and office support to geologists and engineers for a diverse private and public sector client base. The role requires the ability to comprehend construction plans and specifications and a willingness to perform fieldwork and travel for periods of time, including overnights, weekends, and holidays; and a strong willingness to work outdoors with interest in building a career in the environmental consulting field.
Key Responsibilities
Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, blueprints, schematic drawings, and sketches.
Experience working with heating and chiller system piping systems.
The position will involve the sampling of soil and groundwater.
Oversee environmental drilling, logging of soil borings, and test pit installations (will provide training);
Monitor activities on job sites to ensure compliance with relevant construction and contract documents (e.g., technical specifications, construction drawings, sampling plans, etc.);
Prepare daily and weekly field reports and progress reports;
Ensure project documentation is correct and consistent with company policy & procedures;
Interact with project personnel (contractors, project managers, engineers & clients) and assist in cultivating an esprit de corps in the company and workplace;
Assist in the preparation of Phase I ESA reports, work plans, health and safety documents, and the assembly of report appendices;
Observe and abide by the policies and procedures outlined in the site-specific project health and safety plans and the company’s Environmental Health and Safety Management policies and procedures; and
Perform tasks in other company practice areas, including environmental sampling, contractor oversight, safety audits, industrial hygiene sampling, or construction quality assurance activities, as needed.
Minimum Requirements
AS or BS degree in Geology, Environmental Science, Engineering, or other applicable discipline.
40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER Training. Will provide if applicant does not have.
Pertinent computer skills including experience with Microsoft suite of office software.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in the environmental engineering and/or consulting industry.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills, and organizational abilities.
Flexibility, including outside of normal business hours, and willingness to adjust to client needs.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a project team, as required.
Ability to travel to project sites within New England and beyond. Extended overnight travel (e.g., week or two) may be required at times.
Field Work percentage up to 100%.
Willingness to learn new skills.

Physical Requirements:
Tasks require the ability to exert very moderate physical effort in light work.
Some combination of climbing and balancing, including climbing ladders, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.
Some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (10-50 pounds).
Performance of essential functions may require exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as dirt, dust, pollen wetness, temperature and noise extremes, hazardous materials, heights, unsafe structures, confined spaces, machinery, traffic hazards, or toxic substances.
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work may be dependent on client schedules. Early or late hours or weekends may be required as job duties demand.

Pay: $75,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
