Job Description

Gravitas Recruitment Group is seeking a Senior Catastrophe and Climate Risk Analyst in London. The role involves leading catastrophe risk modelling, analyzing climate impacts on flood risk, and contributing to Solvency II compliance. Ideal candidates should have experience in catastrophe analytics, programming skills, and a strong interest in climate issues. This is a hybrid position with the flexibility to work remotely.
We are excited to partner with our client on an exclusive opportunity for a passionate Catastrophe Analyst with a focus on climate change and its impacts on flood risk. Join the Catastrophe Modelling and Climate Change team to play a vital role in analyzing how weather patterns and climate shifts affect hydrological balance and business risks. This position allows you to lead the internal catastrophe risk modelling process, assess risks from extreme weather events, and influence future modelling methodologies. Ideal candidates will have a solid background in catastrophe analytics or exposure management and a desire to enhance their expertise in flood and climate issues.

Key Responsibilities:
• Lead the quarterly catastrophe risk modelling process to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
• Develop and present insightful risk metrics to internal teams.
• Contribute to Solvency II model validation to support compliance and risk management.
• Engage in significant projects, including the 2039 transition plan.
• Identify process improvements and manage relationships with external vendors effectively.
• Conduct detailed analyses of UK flood risk and provide support to the Chief Actuary.

What you bring:
• Experience in catastrophe risk modelling with knowledge of tools such as RMS, AIR, or JBA.
• A degree in a related field (Mathematics, Geography, Hydrology, etc.).
• A strong passion for understanding weather, climate issues, and hydrological systems.
• Proficiency in programming languages and tools like Python, R, SQL, and Excel.
• Exceptional organizational skills and keen attention to detail.
• Experience collaborating and engaging with diverse stakeholders across teams.
