Job Description
The Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW) is hiring a Research Analyst in Hydrology to support sustainable water resource policy-making in India. Responsibilities include hydrological modeling, data analysis, literature reviews, and report writing. Candidates should have a Master's degree in a related field and up to 2 years of experience, along with skills in Python, R, GIS, and remote sensing. The position may require travel to project sites.
You will be working with CEEW's sustainable water programme, supporting policy-making for sustainable development of water resources. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Performing hydrological modelling and preparing water balance and accounts
- Supporting data collection and analysis from gridded datasets
- Undertaking data cleaning and sorting
- Preparing maps using visual representation tools
- Conducting a systematic review of literature
- Writing high-quality research reports independently
- Generating knowledge content such as blogs and policy briefs
- Assisting with programme implementation and outreach of research outputs
- Participating in meetings and sessions, preparing notes, and conducting follow-ups
- Traveling to project sites for field surveys, interviews, or data collection as required
Qualifications required:
- Masters degree in Water Resources, Hydrology, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Geography, Geographical Information Systems (GIS), or a related field
- Up to 2 years of work experience related to Hydrology, GIS, and Remote Sensing
Key Skills:
- Competent with hydrological modelling and inference work
- Working knowledge of Python and/or R for data analysis and modelling
- Proficiency in GIS and remote sensing skills
- Capability in rainfall and discharge trend and variability analysis
- Strong research, analytical, and technical writing skills
- Effective communication and presentation skills
Personal Skills:
- Willingness to learn new research skills
- Ability to deliver under tight deadlines in a professional environment
- Striving for rigour in research and quality in work output
- Effective teamwork skills
- Ability to balance details and the big picture
- Adaptability in an interdisciplinary and multicultural environment
