The Planner role requires an individual with a strong analytical background in housing, climate adaptation and resilience, and/or community development and interest in disaster recovery, and grant management. CCG includes both urban planning, policy, and grant management projects, the Planner position will provide support across the program areas. Prior experience in public sector consulting, grant management, and technical assistance is highly preferred. The position is fully remote, with travel as necessary on a project-by-project basis.
Primary Responsibilities
Conduct data collection, synthesis, and reporting using a variety of data sources, particularly demographic data, Census products, and Department of Housing and Urban Development datasets and tools.
Coordinate data collection, statistical analysis, and data visualization using a variety of data sources and tools (including ESRI tools).
Conduct research and analysis for clients, stakeholders, and the public.
Draft plans, reports, and assessments based on research and analysis.
Develop presentations of research and analysis for clients, stakeholders, and the public.
Draft documents, memos, letters, and other formal communications to clients.
Provide support and facilitate internal and client-facing meetings, workshops, and presentations.
Coordinate and facilitate meetings and community engagement efforts.
Independently manage assigned project tasks and timelines.
Capture, compile, and edit notes from internal meetings and external meetings with clients.
Support Project Managers as needed in the delivery of services to clients.
Requirements:
Required Skills and Experience
Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills with an attention for detail.
Proficient in the use of ESRI ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online and StoryMaps.
Proficient in data visualization and document design and formatting.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including experience developing and drafting reports, regulatory analyses, and technical assistance guidance materials.
Advanced skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
Ability to work collaboratively, effectively communicate, and meet tight deadlines.
Capable of retrieving, analyzing, and synthesizing data in an efficient, clear, and meaningful way.
Effective project and task management skills, as well as the ability to move seamlessly between projects, tasks, and subject matter.
Self-motivated and results-oriented and ability to self-organize and self-direct project tasks assigned.
Bachelor’s degree required and a preference for Master’s Degree in Urban Planning, Real Estate, Geography, Urban Studies, or similar.
3 to 5 years of experience in community planning, housing, climate resilience, or grant management.
Preferred Skills and Experience
Proficient in the use of the Adobe Creative Suite or statistical analysis tools.
Experience working with state or federal programs and planning processes including: the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), or similar State-level program design and implementation.
Experience in housing, community development, HUD programs, and/or grant management.
Experience working with diverse populations and communities to engage them in planning and development processes.
Interest in current best practices across planning, sustainability and resilience, public sector management, and organizational development.
