Job Description

Nutrien is seeking a Specialist, Environmental in Aurora, NC, responsible for chemical approvals, spills management, and environmental compliance. The role involves collaborating with teams to adhere to safety and environmental regulations, providing regulatory oversight, and communicating with site personnel and agencies. This person is responsible for:* Chemical approvals, spills/release management, asbestos program management, Air stack testing, environmental inspections, environmental topic development for Safety Team Leaders and Contractor safety meetings, incident investigation (TapRoot) leadership, and providing environmental representation on Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) and PreStartup Safety Reviews (PSSRs).
This position will report to the Environmental Engineer Supervisor
This position is located in Aurora, North Carolina


What you will do:Work collaboratively in a team environment to ensure compliance with all site environmental permits, including local, state and federal regulatory requirementsAdhere to all site safety and environmental policies/procedures, including OSHA and MSHA regulationsProvide regulatory oversight for assigned environmental programs such as chemical and waste management, air quality and environmental management systemsCommunicate effectively with site personnel and operational departments, providing regulatory guidance for production processes, maintenance, and capital projectsCommunicate effectively with regulatory agencies responsible for local, state and federal permitsEnsure assigned environmental compliance reports are completed accurately and on-timeAttend regulatory training seminars to stay updated on current regulatory requirements and improve knowledge as a subject matter expertGain knowledge of day-to-day operations and stay informed of operational problems/upsets that may affect site regulatory complianceProvide technical support for continuous improvement projects and safety initiativesWhat you will bring:Bachelor of Science degree in science related field is required, Environmental/Chemical Engineering would be preferredA minimum of 2-5 years of experienceExperience among the following categories: air emissions stack testing, sustainability, SPCC would be preferredStrong organizational skillsAbility to effectively communicate (verbal & written) with a diverse group of peoplePossess a high degree of integrity and personal responsibilityAbility to work collaboratively in a team environmentAbility to work independently and self-prioritize work responsibilitiesWork experience in a chemical plant, refinery or other processing or manufacturing industries preferredSafety Commitment
