Origination Manager – Battery Storage

Leap29 have an exciting opportunity as the Origination Manager for the execution of Battery Storage PPA’s across ERCOT and CAISO.

You will spearhead responses to RFPs and actively create and oversee offtake opportunities. Operating within a rapidly expanding company, this position offers substantial visibility and impact. The ideal candidate will bring a wealth of experience in renewable energy project development, regulatory frameworks, and a deep technical grasp of battery systems. Direct involvement in renewable energy finance is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities:
• Lead the response to energy storage RFPs and proactively develop potential offtake opportunities.
• Travel extensively throughout the United States, collaborating with various stakeholders including Community Choice Aggregators, local governments, permitting authorities, utilities, and more.
• Navigate diverse stakeholder groups and negotiate agreements to mitigate project risks effectively.
• Maintain a professional and effective communication style.
• Stay abreast of trends in the power, utilities, and energy storage sectors, informing development and analytical teams accordingly.
• Collaborate with senior finance team members to establish internal processes for project development, accounting, and M&A functions.
• Ensure contract continuity in partnership with EPC and asset management teams.
• Support asset management teams with ad hoc reports and analyses of project performance and contractual compliance.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
• Previous experience in power and utilities development with exposure to large-scale renewable energy storage projects.
• Proficiency in project finance, financial modeling, and valuation techniques.
• Experience in executing PPAs in ERCOT and CAISO
• Demonstrated track record in sourcing, closing, and originating offtake agreements within CAISO and ERCOT systems.
• Proven leadership abilities with a talent for engaging key project stakeholders and offtakers.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong commitment to ethical standards and meticulous attention to contractual integrity.
• Exceptional written communication skills, with proficiency in presenting data using Microsoft PowerPoint.
• Self-motivated, innovative, and adept at thriving in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
