urbanizing and resource-scarce world Description From its office in Rhode Island a collaborative group of RPS scientists and engineers is focused on addressing environmental concerns associated with coastal applications offshore oil and gas exploration and more broadly offshore energy development and coastal engineering projects dredging pipeline burials etc Working with public and private sectors RPS uses state-of-the art numerical modeling tools developed in-house to identify potential trajectory fate and effects of released contaminants in the coastal and marine environment The successful candidate would work with the team on tasks such as data preparation and analysis for use in modeling computational modeling of contaminants in terrestrial aquatic estuarine and offshore environments the preparation of reports and maintenance of environmentalcontaminant data archives Key Responsibilities RPS is seeking an engaging and positive individual with a Masters of Science MSc or equivalent experience in oceanography or other environmental science to work with applied numerical models Previous experience in the application of quantitative analyses of met-ocean datasets and other model data to solve environmental problems in terrestrial aquatic marine andor atmospheric ecosystems is required The candidate must have strong technical writing and verbal communication skills in English and have experience with numerical modeling eg contaminants hydrodynamics atmospheric data processinganalysis and programming eg MatlabPythonRFORTRAN Proficiency in MS Office Suite and presentation skills of complex scientific concepts are highly desirable Experience with ArcGIS is welcome Requirements The successful applicant must be self-motivated and detail-oriented with an ability and interest to learn quickly in a very dynamic work environment They will demonstrate logical problem solving approaches with an ability to work on highly dynamic and interactive projects
