Job Description
Oracle is seeking a Lead Financial Analyst for Energy Planning and Analysis in Santa Fe, NM. The role involves modeling commercial arrangements for innovative energy solutions, managing financial planning and analysis for alternative energy costs, and developing financial models for onsite power generation. Candidates should have 8+ years in FP&A or related fields, with strong financial modeling skills. A degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred.
Job Description
Join us as we transition to innovative energy solutions, moving from traditional grid procurement to onsite generation, renewable power purchase agreements (PPAs), battery storage, and advanced hedging strategies. In this pivotal role, you will be essential in modeling these emerging commercial arrangements and assessing their financial implications for leadership. You will take charge of comprehensive financial planning, analysis, and decision support for alternative energy costs across our global data center fleet.
As the Lead Financial Analyst, you will:
Take full ownership of the alternative power and energy cost forecasts across all regions, adapting to monthly, quarterly, and annual planning cycles with a keen eye for accuracy.
Develop and maintain intricate financial models that analyze onsite power generation economics, exploring scenarios such as gas turbine installations and behind-the-meter configurations.
Evaluate fixed-price and non-grid power arrangements, such as long-term PPAs and tolling structures, focusing on their financial implications throughout contract lifecycles.
Create unit economics ($/MWh, $/kW) tailored to each region, facility, and power source, aiding capacity planning and site selection processes.
Monitor wholesale electricity market trends, particularly in ERCOT and relevant ISOs, and translate these dynamics into informed forecast assumptions and risk assessments.
Model power cost assumptions for significant campus buildouts, including phased capacity delivery and ramp schedules, to support mega deal financial planning.
Foster close collaborations with upstream teams to validate volume inputs, challenge rate assumptions, and advocate for enhanced data quality.
Prepare scenario analyses for leadership that delineate trade-offs associated with rate fluctuations, generation asset performance, and grid interconnection timelines.
Streamline and enhance existing reporting and forecasting processes to increase efficiency and reliability.
Assess and compare various power sourcing strategies, providing decision support that highlights cost, risk, and flexibility trade-offs.
Analyze the financial performance of renewable energy procurement, including PPAs and carbon-free energy strategies, aligning with our sustainability objectives.
Examine energy rate forward curves across key markets to unearth budget risks and opportunities, translating insights into proactive procurement strategies.
Develop energy cost models for new regions, forecasting power costs based on local tariff structures and wholesale market dynamics.
Evaluate the economics of battery energy storage systems (BESS), optimizing charge/discharge strategies and supporting investment decisions.
Craft compelling financial presentations for stakeholders and manage reporting schedules efficiently.
Actively engage in quarterly close processes in collaboration with Finance, Operations, and Business teams.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
8+ years in FP&A, strategic finance, energy finance, or infrastructure finance is required. Experience in data centers, cloud services, utilities, or the power industry is preferred but not mandatory.
A degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred; CPA or MBA qualifications are a plus.
Exceptional financial modeling skills with the ability to navigate incomplete information and evolving commercial frameworks.
Strong capacity to distill technical complexities into financial insights for executive-level decision-making.
A proactive attitude and a thirst for knowledge in rapidly evolving energy markets.
Clear communication skills, enabling respectful challenge of assumptions and advocating for forecast accuracy.
Nice to Have:
Experience with wholesale market structures like ERCOT, PJM, or MISO.
Familiarity with onsite generation technologies, including gas turbines and battery storage systems.
Understanding of cooling infrastructure economics and their impact on power consumption.
Experience with renewable energy procurement frameworks, including PPAs and virtual PPAs.
Knowledge of energy forward curves and risk management strategies.
The position is based at our facilities in the U.S. The salary range for this position is $84,500 to $187,000 per annum, with potential bonus and equity eligibility. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off among other benefits.
We value diversity and encourage all qualified applicants to apply. Join us in shaping the future of energy solutions!
