Job Description

The Sludge Hub & Company seeks a Grant Writer to develop and submit grant proposals for funding ecological restoration projects related to abandoned coal mines. Responsibilities include writing persuasive proposals, managing submissions, and maintaining records. Candidates should have grant writing experience, strong organizational skills, and a passion for environmental sustainability. Compensation is based on successful grants. The position is remote and contract-based.

The Sludge Hub & Company is a 501(c)3 charitable organization dedicated to the ecological restoration of abandoned coal mines and the reutilization of coal industry waste products. We connect mine owners with environmental scientists, artists, and engineers to facilitate innovative restoration projects, revitalizing post-coal landscapes and promoting sustainable practices.

Job Summary:

The Grant Writer will be responsible for developing and submitting compelling grant proposals to secure funding from foundations, government agencies, corporations, and other sources.

Proposal Development:

Write clear, concise, and persuasive grant proposals, including narratives, budgets, and supporting documentation.

Tailor proposals to meet the specific requirements of each funding source.

Collaborate with program staff and partners to gather information and develop the application content.

Grant Management:

Manage the grant submission process, ensuring all deadlines are met.

Maintain accurate records of grant applications, awards, and reporting requirements.

Prepare and submit grant reports to funders.

Qualifications:

Proven experience in grant writing.

Strong research and organizational skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Knowledge of grant-making processes.

Passion for environmental restoration and sustainable practices.

Proficiency with standard office software.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working with environmental non-profit organizations.

Knowledge of coal mining and related environmental issues.

Pay:

Paid per successful grant (when revenue is gained)

$200 or 5%, whichever is higher
