Job Description

Energy Select is hiring a Field Technician - Solar in Cumberland, MD. The role involves installing photovoltaic systems on residential and commercial properties, assisting with site preparation, and ensuring projects are completed safely. Candidates should be able to lift 50 pounds, have a valid driver's license, and be comfortable working outdoors. Previous experience in construction or related fields is a plus. Pay ranges from $18 to $22 per hour with benefits.

Position Overview

Whether you're beginning a career in the skilled trades or bringing previous construction, mechanical, or electrical experience, this role offers the opportunity to develop valuable hands-on skills in the solar industry. We are currently hiring for installers in the Cumberland region. You'll work alongside an experienced installation team, learning every phase of a solar project including preparing the job site and assembling mounting systems to installing solar equipment, completing electrical connections, and ensuring each project is finished safely and professionally.

Key Responsibilities

Install photovoltaic (PV) systems on residential and commercial properties, including roof-mounted and ground-mounted installations.Assist with site preparation, layout, mounting hardware, panel installation, inverter placement, wiring, commissioning, and final project completion.Carry both heavy panels and rails onto rooftops, safely and efficientlyMeasure out the roof and cut rails to each specification, following engineering plansFollow all company safety policies and directions provided by the Crew Lead and Solar Manager to maintain a safe work environment.Keep work areas organized throughout the project and perform a thorough cleanup before leaving the site, ensuring all tools, materials, and debris are removed from the job site.Perform trenching and installation of poles for ground mounts when necessaryCommunicate respectfully with homeowners and business owners, answering basic questions and representing the company in a positive manner.Qualifications

Able to safely lift and carry 50 pounds or more on a regular basis, including while working on ladders, rooftops, or elevated work areas.Possess a valid driver's license and dependable transportation.Willing and able to travel to job sites across Western Maryland, including Allegany, Garrett, Washington, and Frederick Counties.Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions and at heights.Previous experience in construction, roofing, electrical work, or a related trade is helpful but not required. You will be required to use power toolsPay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
