The Carolina Farm Stewardship Association is offering a Farm Assistant Intern position at the Elma C. Lomax Research and Education Farm in Concord, NC. This full-time role involves supporting farming operations, engaging in research, and contributing to vegetable production and farm maintenance. Interns will gain hands-on experience in sustainable agriculture, including data collection and fieldwork, while earning $15 per hour.
Organization Overview CFSA is a 46-year-old member‑based 501(c)(3) non‑profit organization whose mission is to advocate, educate, and build connections to create sustainable food systems centered on local and organic agriculture in the Carolinas. Position Overview This intern position is an opportunity to work at the Elma C. Lomax Research and Education Farm in Concord, NC. As the Farm Assistant Intern, you'll engage in meaningful work supporting diverse farming operations, contributing to cutting‑edge research, vegetable production, and farm maintenance. This role is perfect for someone who thrives outdoors, enjoys physical work, and is passionate about supporting sustainable agriculture. Work Activities Assisting in data collection and plot maintenance for seed production‑based research trials. Harvesting, washing, and packing produce for our food donation program. Field work, including planting, weeding, pruning, and trellising. Knowledge & Skills Expected To Be Gained Hands‑on experience with vegetable production, including planting, cultivation, harvesting, and post‑harvest handling. Experience using basic farm tools, equipment, and infrastructure safely and efficiently. Exposure to agricultural research projects, including assisting with data collection, field trials, and observation protocols. Expanded understanding of local organic food systems. Development of physical stamina, problem‑solving abilities, and effective communication skills. Experience that strengthens resumes for future roles in sustainable agriculture, food systems, or environmental work. Salary: $15.00 per hour #J-18808-Ljbffr
