Job Description

Covington Civil and Environmental, LLC is hiring an Environmental Scientist/Planner in Madison, MS. The role involves conducting environmental site assessments, fieldwork, data analysis, and technical documentation. Candidates should have a bachelor's degree in environmental science or a related field and at least 1 year of experience. Strong analytical skills and proficiency in GIS are preferred. We are seeking a dedicated professional who is ready to provide technical expertise and project management support. Ideal candidates should possess a bachelor's degree in environmental science or a related field and have at least 1 year of relevant experience.

Key Responsibilities:
• Perform Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments.
• Conduct field work including site visits, soil, and groundwater sampling.
• Analyze and interpret analytical laboratory sample results.
• Prepare technical documents for environmental planning and NEPA analysis.
• Collaborate with stakeholders and regulatory authorities.
• Support management of federally funded projects.
• Engage with state and federal agencies, contractors, and project partners.
• Contribute to the development of Monitoring and Adaptive Management Plans and Project Implementation Plans.
• Draft scope-of-work documents for habitat monitoring projects.
• Assist in monthly and annual reporting obligations.
• Navigate permitting processes, including state and federal (USACE) and wetlands requirements.
• Compile and submit permit applications for construction initiatives.
• Perform wetlands delineations, encompassing field work and report writing.
• Assist with annual groundwater sampling and facility SWPPP inspections.
• Utilize Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for data analysis and maps related to planning studies.
• Execute other assigned duties efficiently.

Qualifications:
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with strong analytical skills to enhance operational efficiency.
• Experience with ESRI software.
• Self-motivated, organized, and detail-oriented; exceptional verbal and written communication skills are essential.
• Adaptable and flexible to meet changing priorities.
• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or a related discipline is preferred.
