Your Role

We are seeking a part-time Junior-Level Environmental Scientist for our Bloomington, MN operations to help support environmental due diligence, compliance, and NEPA assessment efforts for projects in the upper Midwest. Job responsibilities may include desktop reviews of historical site data, field visits to document environmental conditions at sites, report preparation for due diligence assessments; cultural and wetland field survey assistance; and assistance with project coordination activities.

Daily interaction with project teams, clients, subcontractors and regulatory agency staff is expected.

Hours per week will be variable (can be up to full-time during peak times).

Qualifications

Candidates must have 0-3 years of environmental consulting or related experience. The selected candidate must also have/be:
• Previous experience with wetland delineations or site investigation and field sampling for soil and groundwater preferred but not required.
• Must have demonstrated ability to successfully support complex and time sensitive projects.
• Highly motivated, client focused and work well in a team environment.
• Excellent client interaction and organizational skills, as well as proficiency with MS Office applications, including Word and Excel, preferred.
• Must possess strong analytical, organizational and communication skills (both written and verbal).
In Addition
• This position requires you to drive on a regular basis. Passing a motor vehicle record background check and maintaining a valid driver’s license and good driving record is required.
Degree/Certification

B.S. in biological sciences, earth sciences, or natural resources is required.

Physical Demands

Candidates must be able to walk around project sites and able to carry up to 25 pounds of equipment such as maps, GPS units, field screening equipment and cameras during field work. Field activities take place in a variety of weather conditions, and can occur in remote locations and include areas of uneven terrain. Some field work requiring overnight travel may be required.

Work Environment

The work environment will consist of a mix of office and field work, with some field work requiring overnight stays. Travel requirements may include day-long projects that do not require overnight stays and multi-day field projects that require overnight stays. Work locations may include urban and rural areas, and occur during any season in all types of weather conditions.

The rate of pay for this position is $21 - $24 per hour, depending on education, experience, skills, and location.
